Kyphosis Scares & Anxiety. Please help.

Yeasterday, i went to urgent care because my back pain got so bad that it was a little hard to breathe. They told me I had thoracic kyphosis i believe. I've always had poor posture since I was little. I'm 16 now. It says kyphosis rarely causes complications, but im scared that i put too much damage on my heart & lungs. Or ive damaged my spinal cord. Ive been to a cardiologist previously & he did a stress test, a couple ekgs, a holter, & an echocardiogram. He didnt find anythibg expect for skipped beats the were produced from anxiety. When i was at the urgent care, she told me that I need to stop googling to the point where I think I'm dying. When i went, my blood pressure was 144/76 i believe but it was probably because i was crying, worried, & in pain. I'm so scared that i put too much pressure on my heart & it's going to stop or something. I'm a fried this kyphosis is going to kill me. Please help .

You are Loco, relying on Google you will drag yourself down and that will be no good. Take the responsibility for your condition and follow their advice. 144 in your blood pressure is reportable high where your GP would generally sit you down sometimes in the waiting room for twenty mins then do it again. Of course with your Anxiety that would increase your heart beat, sometimes people relate it to the white coat of doctor or nurse. It is not skipped beats it is your anxiety causing the increase. There is nothing wrong with that reading.

With regard the result of your test did they suggest a pathway that they wished to take with you ? If they feel it is posture they may arrange a Physio to help you maintain new stature positions when walking or sitting. Talk to your GP in a couple of weeks, they will have your report by then

Well when i went to urgent care, she said she wasn't to concerned about my blood pressure because i was crying, panicking, in pain, I kept moving, & when i seen the cardiologist i was diagnosed with nothing. My blood pressure is usually 110 or 112. But may i ask is kyphosis a dangerous condition? Should I be worried?

Hello Loco

Generally this condition is a curvature of the spine, it does not need to be dangerous and the general prognosis is good.

However I would advise you talk to your GP when He gets the diagnosis. It may be a good idea to exercise the spine and your posture may be looked at. If in pain they may prescribe NSIDs medications.

Talk to your GP, He will discuss ways of treating and possible some correction of of the spine. Many people have this problem to various degrees and will live their lives with little intervention. This will depend on the condition itself and how your XRays show the problem, they may do a scan for information, they may not need too treat

Talk to your GP and stop worrying

Yeah I was given a shot of toradol that hurt EXTREMELY bad. That took some of it away. I was also given tylenol with codeine, steroids, & ibuprofen, although I don't plan on taking any because i don't like taking medication. My mom is in the medical field & she felt my back & she said it was tight & a little swollen.
