Hi everyone,
Isnt it wonderful to have this forum to hear of others' experiences regarding thr ? My heart goes out to those who continue to have pain and discomfort associated with their procedures.
I can only say that the whole experience so far, for me, has been remarkably pain free and, touch wood, is coming along nicely, thank you!
I went into Spire Gatwich Park Hospital on the 27th April around 1400, had the op around 1700, was back in my room by 1930. I had the full monty anesthetic, as I did not want any possiblity of know ANYTHING of what was going on!
Upon awaking, slightly woosey, but no other effects. The woosey feeling went 2-3 hours later.
During the first night, obviously sleeping on my back, and various drugs were given through the canullas in both hands. Liquid painkiller and various other drugs including a small anti clotting injection in my stomach. I noticed I was fitted with the air pumped stocking devices on both lower legs. I was pleased to see I didnd have to wear those stockings that so many others seem to have problems with.
Pain level around .5, presumaby due to pain relief drugs.
Great nursing and a succession of bottle in which to 'wee' were veery welcome.
First morning, tuesday the 28th, after visits from Consultant and gas man, in comes the physio and all of a sudden I am standing up on my new hip. Wow, that was quick. Only a few minutes, then back to bed.
Lunch was very welcome.
Later that afternoon, re-intoduced to using the exercises I had been practising for the week before admission. No real pain I must say, I guess the codeine was doing it's job, good lad! One more stomach jab.
Wednesday morning, physio with the exercises and practice in stairs,
and by 1430 I am on my way home !
