RE physio..in Nov when I had total knee replacement had no input..paid 2 private appt n chased up NHS. ..got an appt very quickly n physio saw me once said there was nothing else she could do for me as I was able to do sheet exercises n discharged me same day!!!!
This time ..I had revision surgery 2 wks ago I asked surgery to refer me to physio..has to be hospital again as it's post op...so far nothing!!!
So you do feel abandoned as I feel I really need it to enable to reach my range of movements!Rant over......
Sporty forgot to say I will be chasing n asking they send me urgent appt..I will not give up on it but feel we have enough to cope with without doing this!!!!
Hi Hilary. That is exactly the word I used about physio ... Abandoned. I took myself swimming, or rather paddling - did all my exercises under water and made up a few myself. I went 2 or 3 times a week for 15 or 20 mins.
it did the world of good for both my knee and my well being (I got quite depressed) and I still go now a year after TKR. I still do some exercises in the pool but a lot more swimming. Only thing I don't like is no frog legs - I either kick up and down or do butterfly legs together.
Good to hear from you and I'm glad you've been getting some rest. I'm sorry you feel abandoned by physio though....I certainly know that feeling too. I really cannot understand why the NHS spends upwards of £12,000 on our ops, only to just send us home to fend for ourselves!!
Cutting a long story short, I have gone for private physio, six sessions at £40 a go, but worth every penny to me. And they actually massage and move my leg.....not just look at it and give me a sheet of exercises as the hospital one did!
Your health is so important, I hope you get some physio sorted one way or another. And never feel abandoned by us here
I can't believe the difference of what hospitals across the country offer for physiotherapy after TKR I'm in Bournemouth it's 19 days since op and today I'm going for my 2nd Physio session, I can't fault the treatment I've received as prior to the op I was given over 4 months of physio twice a week to build up ready, now a friend of my brother who live in the Midlands had her op beginning of March and came out of hospital and left basically to fend for herself no arrangements for physio and bless her she's still not doing good
