Lactose problems.

Hi all, I've being doing some reading about lactose, I know it's on the avoid FODMAP list, apparently many people are lacking the enzyme lactase to break this sugar down with resulting problems, bloating, cramps, diarrhoea, etc, apparently 1000s of years ago no one had the lactase enzyme according to fossil results, any views on this, and if you avoid lactose has it made any difference.

I’ve had ‘IBS’ for years and it’s been getting worse recently. So I decided to go lactose free (as far as milk is concerned) for a while to see if it made a difference. My main problem is huge pockets of very painful trapped wind which takes up to 48 hours to pass through. And other symptoms which tied in with what I have read about lactose intolerance. While reading all this stuff I came across something called A2 milk which has an A2 protein in it rather than the A1 which is in other milks. Apparently some people who think they are lactose intolerant may actually be intolerant of the A1 protein, not lactose. So I am now trying that as I continued to get sporadic trapped wind while on lactose free milk. I’ve been on it for about five days and so far.... I hesitate to say as I don’t want to jinx it...

i cannot take any milk or yogarts or milkshake ,if i do i will have loose stools and watery

Some people can tolerate dairy products that are low in lactose, or can tolerate goat's/sheep's milk products. Butter and most cheeses are low in lactose. I've also been enjoying unpasteurised goat's/sheep's cheese products, as I heard these are easier to digest. Fermented dairy is usually more digestible.
