Laparoscopic hysteropexy - recovery

hi. anyone had this and can you tell me what your recovery was like? i had rectocele repair in May and the recovery was not easy as I developed a post-op infection however I was back at my desk job after 6 weeks. I have been told this next op is 2-4 weeks recovery but I just wanted to hear from anyone who had actually gone through it

do you mean hysterectomy?

No, not having a hysterectomy. It is
a hysteropexy that is for correcting a prolapsed uterus.

oh ok I understand. cant advice on this but I was offered this but was told by my consultant that he couldnt guarantee if it would last long.
as I’m age 51 I was offered a hysterectomy due to ut being g pro.prolapse.
on balance I dud the right thing and havent had any issues so far and it’s been 18 months.
good luck x

Hi Rachel
I had this op last year and was off work for 3 months. I was totally wiped out to be honest and given that your womb will be anchored to the spine it can painful the first couple of weeks
I hope you recover quickly but make sure you take time in your recovery rest don not lift anything
fingers crossed for you!

I did ask about hysterectomy but my consultant said the problem is the ligaments holding it so the uterus can be removed but this does not ‘repair’ the ligaments, hence another prolapse further down the line. My best option at my age (45) is the hysteropexy.

Thank you, very helpful

that makes sense . no one wants to deal with vaginal vault prolapse.
good luck hunx
