I had an ERCP in February to clear a bile duct blockage but they found a 1cm polyp at the time and are recommending removal of the gallbladder. I have a telephone appointment to discuss. Problem is 3 days after the procedure I ended up in A&E and intensive care needing an emergency transfusion due to blood loss following the procedure. They did do a clotting test beforehand but maybe me having an auto immune disorder and being on steroids and immune suppressants didn’t help. I also have lung disease due to the immune condition so not a good candidate for surgery. And now we have covid 19 in the mix. I have not been able to see my respiratory consultant at all this year plus the hospital concerned has had an outbreak and the town itself could end up back in lockdown.
Due to its size, there is the risk of the polyp turning cancerous. Hopefully it is OK at the moment. I have no idea of the odds of this happening so it is difficult to balance risks. Just wondered if anyone else had a large gallbladder polyp and how it was dealt with.
