LASIK after cataract removal

I have removed cataract in both eyes 2015, my eye sight is now 6/9. I want to do lasik operation going for consultation in two weeks. Has anyone done lasik recently? What to expect from the op? Thanks.

I don't know if you are just saying "lasik" as a generic term for laser correction. I've read that many surgeons suggest for minor corrections after cataract surgery that PRK is a better option for many patients than lasik. Which is best depends on the patient, but if its lasik they are suggesting its likely useful to ask them to explain why they are suggesting that in your case rather than PRK (to be sure it isn't merely because its what they are used to, there is an old expression that if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail.. when a screwdriver might be more appropriate). Perhaps consider more than one opinion (at least hear in the US, many doctors provide free consults for those considering laser correction).

There are a variety of types of laser correction these days (e.g SMILE in addition to PRK and LASIK), even multiple types of lasik, and some doctors are tied to whatever methods the expensive lasers they bought can do so its best to see how up to date they are, and again if possible compare what different docs suggest. I haven't yet researched which ones are the best for small adjustments after cataract surgery (though again it partly depends on the patient).

I haven't had lasik, though I may also consider it for a minor tweak but hadn't yet researched it.  My cataract surgery Dec. 2015 left one eye slightly hyperopic and although my distance vision is almost 20/15 (better than 6/6 in the notation you used) it seems a waste not to get a little more near from it.  Whether your adjustment is for an eye that is hyperopic or myopic might influence which laser correction method is appropriate.

oops, I meant my surgery Dec. 2014, not that it matters, its just a shame they don't let you edit for typos.

Thank youever so much for this valuable info. I'm using lasik as the generic term, will defnately ask relevant question on the consultation day. I want to correct the eyesight (laser correction) I won't mind 20/15 of course (smiling).
