Late first OB

Is it possible to have a first OB 7 years after exposure? Also, if not a first OB, could a recurrence be confused with a first outbreak?

How do you know you've had it for years without an outbreak? Were you IGG positive? I'm almost to 6 months and have been only IGM positive for these past few months. Everyone says to ignore it but waiting on my recent blood test to see if anything changed. I have never had signs or symptoms just knew a guy was promiscuous that I slept with so I got tested blood wise for my own comfort. A lot of people say they are married for years and it just shows up... honestly I think a lot of those people get cheated on and don't know it because that just seems odd to me. Everyone I know with it gets outbreaks within 3 months.

Is it possible to have a first OB 7 years after exposure?

Yes, but that's not so common, maybe in like 10% of cases. Usually, and on average, a first outbreak will occur within the first week of infection.

Also, if not a first OB, could a recurrence be confused with a first outbreak?

Possible. Recurrences are usually milder, though, without any systemic symptoms like fever, malaise, etc. What symptoms did you get?

My partner and I have been together 9 years in October. Neither of us had any signs or symptoms until about six months ago I had a terrible outbreak and he still showed no signs. I am fortunate enough that he has been my rock through it all. I don't believe he cheated and I know I haven't either. So I'm not sure how to answer your question. But I didn't know I had it and but i must have carried it for years without knowing. So I believe you could have been exposed 7 years ago and just now had an outbreak due to my own experience. Good luck.

Also I use to work for a drs office and I was very young and didn't know much about this disease at all but I can tell you guys this, I had numerous guys call me saying wives didn't know they had it because they had had it for years without an outbreak. They didn't want them to find out because they were embarrassed. Well guess what? The wives usually found out by either catching it or the husband having an outbreak after years. So always be honest no matter how scary it is. One man was freaking out that his wife might leave him if she found out because she would think he cheated on her. He didn't cheat on her he just didn't tell her. It's like what's worse ya know?!

I only got a hand job and cleaned off with a hot towel. Still don't know if the bumps on my penis are herpes.

My symptoms occurred 11 days after a trip to a shady massage parlor. Burning glass skin, flu-like, for a week. Then, a bump appeared 17 days after the exposure. I know hj is considered safe on other sites which makes me think it's from a gf I had years ago.

Unless I could have gotten it from the hot towel used to clean me up?
