Left leg numbness?

A couple of nights ago I woke up in the middle of the night and when I got out of bed, I fell straight down because the whole of my left leg was numb. I was still half asleep so didn't care enough to be concerned so I made my way to the toilet as best I could and then went back to bed. In the morning it was fine but i noticed when I had an itch on my leg, when I scratched it it wasn't as sensitive as the other leg. From just under my knee up my thigh is like my leg is partially numb. I can still feel it, and it doens't feel like the numbness you get before pins and needles, but it's like it's desensitised. I also noticed it a tiny bit in my upper left arm, but I hadn't properly noticed it until a friend asked if I was. I also have anxiety so I don't know if I should take the kind of numb arm at face value and not just a "i think i have it so i have it" feeling i get from being a hypochondirac. Is it just a pinched nerve? Is it just anxiety? If it is a pinched nerve how long will it last?

I'm also 17, if age was going to be a factor in anything

I have the same problem as you. It only ones happened to me and I never check what the symptoms and cause of having this numbness. It happens both of my legs, but after an hour it goes away.

I was thinking maybe it’s because I sat for too long.

Hi Blythe. Sounds like a nerve problem in your back. I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis. One of the symptoms of this is numbness and pain in my right leg. I am not suggesting that you have the same condition but ther are many reasons for nerve problems and the key is to find out the cause as soon as possible. I'm afraid that means a visit to your doctor and a referral to a Neurologist for tests. I would tend to agree with you about your arm but still mention it, just in case. Good luck and take care, Debbie

Age might not be the reason.

I had same symptoms. There could two reasons either neru prob or deficiency of vitamins D or b12/or iron, you will get know all after tests.

Consult a good phyisician and get all test done. If its not any deficiency then meet a neurologist.

Nothinf to worry. All the best.
