CAD, breathlessness, bi-lateral pitting oedema legs. Type 2 diabetic. Insulin intolerance now taking Dapagliflozin.
I have very short stabbing chest pains occasionally now for past 2 months constant pins & needles in left arm.
GP no idea. Endocrinologist prescribed for neuropathic pain, Pregablin 2 x ? at night, one in morning. Pain is so troublesome have taken to wearing Pain relieving electronic stimulation machine (TENS)
Can only just tolerate pain & annoying pins&needles.
I also used tramaol for while, it is a nonopiod pain med and not to habit forming. Be careful with it because of some bad side effects. Check it out good before asking for it.
I have been on medication for Neuropathic pain for the past 6 years, I was originally on Pregablin, but now on Gebapantin which for me is much better than pregablin, I believe the pregablin is the cheap drug.
Gabapentin works as a slow release medication, and I find 4 0r 5 x a day keeps the pain at bay. However, it can effect your breathing, and my weight shot up. Your dosage appears very low, perhaps you should ask if you can increase it, as your still in pain, and thats not acceptable.
I too have used a tens machine, but it didnt seem to help me.
Pain on a daily basis is so debilitating, and its a lonely world we live in as no one really understands, even though they try. I hope you can find a combination of medication that suits you. I wish you well Brian.
I stated on another thread that wearing wooi knee high raw wool socks also helps. Something about the ichyness and the fact that te wool will keep the body temperature at 98.6 no mater what the room temperature is helps with pain. And to tell you the truth is quite soothing.
Thankyou for your advice and kind words Christine. I have been on Gabapentin but because of my heart condition my Endocrinologist changed that to Lyrica (Pregablin). I have an appointment with him again in April so will be mentioning it to him again. I agree with you regarding the TENS but I do get relief whilst I am wearing it. Thanks again.
Thanks Joh for your advice. I will definitely be speaking with my GP and Consultant regarding this pain when I see him in April. The pain really does affect lifes daily tasks' and it's very easy for the medical profession to right it off as, "Neuropathic". That probably is the diagnosis but please, "give me relief".
