Left side stomach pain? Any ideas

Hello, I’m 26 year old male I’ve had ct scans with contrast done on my abdomen and showed no signs or abnormalities maybe 2 weeks ago blood work has been good. I have been told they think I have ibs but haven’t been properly diagnosed with a colonoscopy, I have a endoscopy consultation coming up. But not sure what I feel is like pressure or the need to relieve myself tha area is located left side right next to your belly button it’s a sharp or pressure pain like I have to go #2 usually when I eat I get it sometimes i don’t have to go and sometimes on a empty stomach I can feel it, not sure if this can be ibs pain or a flare up?? New to this so any help would be appreciated was told also I may have a stomach ulcer but I don’t feel much burning like I was a few weeks prior, bloated pressure in my stomach and besides that lower left stomach pain I feel nauseous usually most of the day. Any help would be greatly appreciated or similar symptoms? Thank you!

IBS pain and a flare up are one and the same thing.  You don’t need a colonoscopy to be properly diagnosed with IBS.  I was properly diagnosed with IBS without a colonoscopy.  You only need one if you have alarm symptoms such as bleeding, unintended, rapid weight loss or a high fecal calprotectin result.  Some people request a colonoscopy to relieve their health anxiety.  You can get acid reflux symptoms with IBS and nausea. Your symptoms sound like IBS, but wait to see what your endoscopy shows first.  IBS pain is often is often felt on the left side but it can move about.  Do you get any constipation or diarrhoea?  Have you noticed if any food in particular sets it off?  If all tests are negative, IBS will be diagnosed.

I appreciate you replying to me,  I did have unintended weight loss but my doctor had said that was due to him saying he suspects a stomach ulcer or gastritis, I don’t have blood in my stool other than some hemmorids and yes It’s a mixture I will either have diarrhea or soft stool or constipation or sometimes it’s hard stool sorry if I’m sounding gross.   My gi doctor suspects it’s a ulcer but that I may possibly have ibs, but that she wants to rule out other things before they determine its ibs ie : celiac disease, chrons, diverticulitis. I do much appreciate your response good to know there people willing to help and ease the mind, hope to hear.

Hopefully it is only IBS.  Weight loss can be caused by anxietyas your doctor suggested.

Yea I’m hoping so too thanks again 🙏
