Hey everyone! So, ive been experiencing neck pain since probably august of this year. I went to urgent care to see why the left side of my neck, specifically, feels like it’s about to explode, like it keeps tightening and then relaxing. I get an X-ray and it shows straightening of my cervical spine (neck). Ok cool.. NP prescribes me cyclobenzaprine and a few days later my neck pain goes away.
Fast forward, my neck pain now comes intermittently but not as bad as it was initially. However, now I am feeling this strange dizziness. It doesn’t happen when I’m walking, running, training (I do jiu jitsu), or driving. It only occurs when I’m sitting in a stiff chair (it doesn’t happen when I’m in the seat of my car) and standing still.
My symptoms feel like light headedness and like the floor is jolting for a quick second, like there was a baby earthquake that tilted the planet for a second and then normalized. Also i get sensations that make it feel like my head is being pulled, and no my symptoms do not include headaches. It’s so weird! This dizziness IS NOT A SPINNING SENSATION! I’ve also been to the ENT that ruled out vertigo, inner ear diseases like fluid in the ears, vestibular issues, my hearing is PERFECT, I passed all the physical tests she had me do (tandem walking etc). NOTHING!
When I’m sitting it’s probably the worst. I’ll feel like I might fall Out of my seat if I turn, so I’ll base my feet out to keep stable, even though I’m not moving at all. This happened in school where I felt like I was seeing the floor slanting and I’m getting these super weird sensations and my heart is POUNDING! Just out of nowhere! It constantly happens but I have to fight through it for almost an hour for it to completely go away.
So of course, I’m thinking it’s either a brain tumor or MS. I got a ct scan (I wish it had been an mri) and they see no tumor or anything abnormal. I’ve yet to get an MRI because apparently my symptoms are a joke and my insurance won’t approve of the procedure.
People around me think it’s just anxiety but anxiety from what??? I deff have some health anxiety but my life in general is not one that causes me any anxiety. I feel emotionally stable and the only thing causing me stress is this weird dizziness.
The thing is I’ve never fallen or stumbled. It’s only been sensations. They’re not ridiculously severe but I notice them and that’s enough to cause me stress.
Do any of you have a straight cervical spine that’s causes dizziness? What specialist do I see about this? I’m suspecting that if it is cervicogenic dizziness, it’ll be hard to find a doctor that even knows much about that. Thanks in advance..
