Leg discomfort all night long

I am 5 weeks posterior THR and Im still getting  quite bad nightly leg discomfort all down both legs whilst living in bed. I took co codamol before going to bed but hardly slept the first 4 hours due to this thigh & leg  pain. Then I took another 2 co codamol and drifted off a bit but still had that discomfort down both outer legs. Anyone else get this? It’s not actually a pain, more like a very bad ache but bad enough to keep you awake.

Ps LYING in bed 😊

I hope you got some sleep. It's 3:48 am here so I can relate to your delema .  I am considering going to another dr for a 2nd opinion.  One leg is longer than the other my surgery was 8 weeks ago.  Although I am driving and going to gym 2 X a week riding the bike and never thought I would be this good  I still have a swollen leg and ankles and sleepless nights too.  It has gotten much better but I feel it is taking too long and that something isn't right . I still use the cane off and on.  I am on Palm Springs ca. I met someone in my area so we are trying to get together. Msybe you can ask around to see if anyone in your area is close by?  I wish you luck as I see you are having a time with it and sometimes you feel like no one is listening   Good luck  Aldo I am concerned that I still am on On pain pills.  I only take a half of a vicadon 3 times a day but sometimes at night too. I'll be glad to get off of them but can't yet as I am allergic to aspirin .  Would love to sleep all night long

Hi Sarah I almost posted yesterday as I am so tired of the pain I have down my leg when walking. Mostly knee.

You and I had surgery about the same time. I’m so frustrated because I spent about 8 years in pain. Had my first THR last year and my second 5 weeks ago. I also beat cancer 3 yrs ago with treatment. Here I thought I was finally going to be healthy and pain free. Last night the restleg went on most of the night. The only position I feel best in is laying on my back but I know I can’t do that so I get myself up for a couple of hours. It’s mentally and physically draining.

I pray with my appt next week something gets resolved. And I hope the very same thing for you.

Hello,

Im in the USA so don’t know co comodol but I think it’s like our hydrocodone. I had to have my dosage increased at night which worked well.  If you aren’t taking the top dose you may not get full relief. At 3 months, I still need pain relief even after 12 visits to physical therapy which helped tremendously.  Get your doctors advice on dosing better and good luck.  Wishing you the best,

Joyce

Hi again, yes it is utterly draining. Someone else replied to this post and suggested an analgesic  dose increase might help. My really bad leg ache is all down both legs all night really. I’m so tired when I go to bed. I haven’t been lazing around all day so I don’t know why I can’t just go to sleep like I used to. I’m sorry you’re getting all this aggro too, especially after going through such a lot of other things as well. It doesn’t seem fair. Ironically I too am now getting a bit of knee pain when I walk and when I step up a kerb to get onto the pavement. A lady who lives below me in this block has had both hips done and both knees. She said to me today life’s a b****r.   It is!!

I think I will have to get an appointment to see what my GP thinks about increasing pain relief at night😩. I do my exercises and am not in too much pain at all in the day but the minute I try to lie down to go to sleep pain stops me 😢

Hi Sarah,

I have these symptoms, but to a much lesser degree. During the day, I feel much better.  Getting up from sitting, I have to hold my operated leg when getting up.  After a few steps, I feel alright.  However, at night, when I go to bed, I constantly switch from lying on my back to lying on my “good” side.  I keep the blanket off of my feet (when I kept it on,  my feet hurt all night long).  You’re not alone.

Steve

Aww so sorry you too are suffering Steven & yes I know exactly how you feel. And this time of year it makes our problems seem even more so I think, we seem to be in pain in never ending darkness. The nights seem unending don’t they! When did you have your THR?

Hi Sarah,

I had my THR on Sept 12, 2017.  Funny, I got this email just now but it said it was sent 2 days ago!!!
