Its now almost 12 weeks since i had my right hip replacement, my daughter is down from Scotland with Grandson for half term holidays. I am struggling to keep up! I have been out and about a bit more than usual, and after getting home I feel exhausted and both my legs and feet seem to swell and they feel very uncomfortable! Its been that way since I got out of hospital will this ever stop? I had hoped I would be feeling a bit fitter and hoped by now the swelling would stop is there anyone else having this problem? Cyndey
it does indeed stop and get much much better. However in the grand scheme of things 12 weeks is not a long time, although I do remember it seems an eternity when it is happening. You said it yourself you have been out and more than usual, your muscles are still realigning and healing after probably compensating for the way you walked to minimise pain before the op, and being cut, if you had a lateral or posterior approach. They are stretched and pushed about even if the anterior is used.
put you feet up when you can, pace yourself a bit and enjoy half term.

12 weeks is still early in the recovery process - it took me around 6 months before I felt anything like my ‘old self’. Commuting in and out of London was not easy, but did get easier after a while, you need to build your stamina up slowly.
