Lens exchange

ANYONE HAVE A SUCCESSFUL LENS EXCHANGE AFTER PROBLEMS WITH ORIGINAL CATARACT SURGERY?

following as well

george i actually was hoping to get in touch with you. saw your post. i have had nothing but problems since my cataract surgery. am actually scheduled for first exchange next wednesday. terrified is an understatement.

yes.

I have the same problem and I read that some people have 20/20 results for both reading and far and I am wondering if these are the lenses that work like a progressive lens. My sister’s husband had those put on and it never worked for him…I would like to know too. One thing I have heard is that we need to go to a doctor that specializes in IOL exchange…

which lenses did u get first time round, how long has it been since the surgery and what problems are you experiencing?

symfony lenses seven months ago. hated them from day one. glare night and day. cant drive at night at all. blurry vision . still need glasses. basically i feel incapacitated by them . biggest and worst mistake of my life. im 62

i know there are risks, but i am confident in my new surgeon, and for me, i have no choice. the current situation is a nightmare.

i feel like my brain cant accept them. i am going to a specialist who does exchanges, and when i was describing (in tears) what i was going through, he kept nodding his head as if he’s heard it all before. original surgeon kept encouraging me to give it time, which is why i waited seven months. i also developed dry eye, but corneal doctor says its mild, and doesnt account for all the issues im having. she is encouraging me to do the exchange as well. i feel like my eyes and brain are fighting every minute to try and see. surgeon said its like trying to hear something through static.

omg we need to talk. same same same. its maddening

i had my iol exchanged twice. i had a very experienced doctor who does exchanges all the time. where are you located.

so sorry for those doing exchanges. i would if it were easy. i am n dercorrected by -.75 and .25 astigmatism remaining. I started at -6.50 with .75 astigmatism. so IOL Calculation on me was off. i’m not happy because having only one eye done, i cannot wear glasses due to double vision. so, i’m in contacts on both eyes still. i also sometimes get double vision on brightly lit signs,tv crawl etc. It is disappointing.
what issues are you all having that are pointing you to lens exchange? At first the surgeon tried to tell me it was just dry eye…well it’s been 9 weeks and no it isn’t. i am not doing the other eye until i have no choice…afraid of what outcome I might get.. i’m sorry for all who get a less than optimal outcome.

do you all have multifocal or monofical lenses? Toric or spherical?

Thanks for sharing and I understand the glare issue. I have the lens edge glare myself. Alphagan does work for me but taking it forever would be a hassle.

If the exchange solves this I would seriously consider. I am also worried about any side effects of an exchange: capsule rupture, epiretinal memberane etc.

Do you have the glare in both eyes?

How much near intermediate do you have right now? Have you considered you will lose it with the monofocal?

how did it turn out?

they blame everything on dry eye.

i went to a famous NYC dry eye specialist and first thing he told me was that i didnt have dry eye . I think my eyes are strained because they are working so hard with these horrible lenses.

they do Doretta and if i had terrible dry eye I wouldn’t be able to wear contacts 12 hrs a day. so, dry eye isn’t the only issue.

I had super high expectations of the outcome after I decided to have oculentis lenses implanted, however, I was devastated with the outcome, I could not see well at all, it was like looking through 3d glasses with vaseline on them. After 4 horrible weeks I had them exchanged for symfony, I agree, the flare on lights is less than ideal but the ghosting has gone, fluro lighting is more tolerable and since I have come to terms with my decision, the neuroadaption is kicking in.

I had laser twice in one eye for refractive error and and the tear film is unstable which does effect the consistency of my vision but I do not need glasses for any distance now, reading distance is exceptional.

Things are not perfect and I still have undesirable aberations such as concentric circles around street lights but I must say the jury is still out for me as I continue to see things settle, adjust and improve now 1 year on.

Qhat type did you use now, multifocal?
