i have just come out of hospital after being dianosed with autoimmune hepatitus

Just a few weeks ago I was diagnosed with medicine-induced hepatitis. I had swollen up all over, and couldn't keep food down for weeks. I had to cease using oral steroid (prednisone) and NSAIDs. Seven weeks on, most of the swelling has gone except for ascites, I've stopped being sick (although I can still only manage one small meal a day) and I'm allowed to apply small amounts of diclofenac gel to my more painful joints. The skin above my liver is no longer as painful to the touch, either.

Autoimmune hepatitis is different, though. You will possibly need oral steroids to bring down the swelling and you won't be on them long enough to cause damage.

i have been out of hospital 3 weeks now, i was in for three weeks, and they have also found three large gallstones, i started on 8 steriods a day and have cut down to 6, and in another 2 weeks i will go onto 4, i started my ammune system tablets on thursday, so far so good and i have to go for blood tests for the next three weeks, i saw my dr at the hosptital and fortunatly i dont have any scarring on my liver. i am really trying to eat healthy, having my breakfast in the morning and eating plenty of fresh fruit and veg and salad. my hair is not falling out anymore. my teeth were also starting to loosen. i am just taking everyday as it comes.

Ouch! I'm really glad you are improving. It sounds as if you've really been through the mill! I'm glad there's no scarring - hopefully, you'll make a full recovery.

I'm fortunate that I don't have any problems with my gallbladder. My latest ultrasound showed that it's very healthy.
