my leg feels very heavy and is difficult to bend. Do you remember this. Exercise so far has been a walk around the dining table 2/3 times each exercise and up the stairs. Early days yet.
I think you are trying to push yourself too much, it's very early days to try a lot of walking, I used to walk into the garden every couple of hours, it will get easier xx
Hi tony
Take it easy
Keep doing a bit each hour but only a bit
I'm ten days post op. Every day feeling a little stronger. For the first couple of days out of hospital my leg felt very stiff and achey, but now I can do a couple of laps round the kitchen table every hour or so. Just remember to listen to your body. Take things slowly. Best wishes for your continued progress.
Steph
Thanks all. It is difficult to know how much to try and do, I really haven't done much at all yet. Usually very active, work, golf and gardening. Tony
Yep- all normal from my experience! Hang in there- every week gets better!
Hi tony
see it as slowly slowly catch the monkey. Take each day as it comes. Remember everyone will heal differently. Everyone will go at there own pace. It isn't a race and the more aware you are at doing things right and at the right time the better you will feel and the outcome will be better. Do thing too fast and you will be one of those posting your leg hurts or something doesn't feel right. This is the beginning of the new pain free you.
Hi Tony
Day 7 for me and leg feels very heavy..almost swollen and internally bruised. But this was how the other one was 3 months ago so not worried. Doing a little walking round the house and exercises 3 times a day. Each day gets easier.
Don't overdo it and keep taking painkillers
Take care

Do your post surgery exercises, not so much with the walking, although if you feel capable I can see nothing wrong with it. I was walking 50yards or more to the day room in the hospital on day 2 with first THR, still can't walk more than 100 yards after 9 months with 2nd THR. GRRRRR not happy.
dearest tony,
I think that you are doing great - doing your exercises 2-3 times a day and doing stairs ? yes, you are v ery early in your recovery and honestly, I am almost 9 weeks post-op of 2nd THR and find my legs feeling heavy and now muscle aches galore . Not saying that everyone is experiencing this - so it is individual - surrender to what is, right now ... from being active to slowing down to snail's pace is confrontational. isn't it?
ease into it and be gentle with your self -
big warm hug
