Less weight gain on slow release?

Hi,

I've been on and off with propranolol. Sometimes the slow release sometimes the little red tablets.

I'm like this because I'm convinced they will make me gain lots of weight.

As you know the doctors say it's not s recognised side effect.

When u took them for 3 months I noticed a few pounds weight gain but nothing major.

Been on them a month, for most of it trying to come off them. My anxiety is getting worse and I've been shaking.

Wondering if I should go back on the slow release ones. I have brands Benadol and half beta.

Has anybody seen a difference in the brand names and types?

Thanks

Amy

Don't know about any differences in the type of propranolol, I have been taking half beta. Prograde Slow release 80mgs daily since last sept. I have put on weight, I see it mainly around my stomach and waist. Although I've only put on 3-4 lbs I have changed body shape in those areas and I definitely don't like it. I am 59 now and have maintained the same weight since I was a teenager so am not used to seeing my body with excess fat. I have to be very careful what I eat now. i think the tablets slow your metabolism, I am certainly lacking in energy compared to before so maybe that's what causes the weight gain ?

Yes a few pounds isn't bad it's just that fact you look fatter and can't lose it! Somebody mentioned it may be water retention. What do you take them for if you don't mind me asking?

I takethemfor dystonic tremor, they work pretty well, I also have migraine so I'm hoping they will help to prevent those too.

not sure about water retention as I wouldn't have thought that would increase fat around waist and midriff ?
