Let's talk about sex

Slight blush but -

As a bloke, my willy shrank muchly after spinal op, catheter, etc, but revived after a first shower this week, after wound dressing removed by DN.

Any advice from anyone about the three letter word SEX....when is it safe/ recommended to get mushy?!

Might be an idea to see if the other party will take the risk just in case you can't get your leg back over (only joking).  Spooning I believe the way forward but then what would I know! I'm a woman

Thanks...

Oh tis hard to be a man!

Look forward any more thoughts on this...

Mic x

My NHS hospital (Raigmore, Inverness) produced a sheet advising on this ~ specifically showing drawings of positions recommended, & to be avoided.  In all cases they proposed waiting 6 weeks before having 'full-blown' sex.  I'd suggest you ask your hospital/physio/surgeon if they have a similar advice sheet.

Good luck!

Hi mic

I asked consultant at my 6 week check and he said from then obviously being careful and taking all the usual hip precautions (other precautions of course up to you lol).

So came home and had sex, it was great, no problems at all, though careful positions.

When I had my 7 week check, the Physio ran through things we should or should not do after 6 weeks, during a group session.  When she came to the sex bit, she was a bit embarrassed as all of us were over 70.  For men she advised that the woman be on top for the first few times if she was comfortable with that and for the women it might be more comfortable side to side with the man behind, or facing one another with the woman's leg on top if that was comfortable. (If you can understand what I mean).  If the woman felt she was okay on her back and could open her legs wide enough then that was okay, but not to stretch the groin too far.   This is after the 6 weeks of course.  Hope you understand all this and best of luck!!

Glad  you brought this up. I read when you feel comfortable and thought we would be waiting for 6 weeks, but had it at 3 weeks, it was fine and now am at 5 weeks. However, am a woman, so not in your situation. I did see positions online, but not chancing anything at this point. Sure was nice to feel normal in that department. Good luck, Susan

Chance would be a fine thing!!biggrin  Love the "shrinking willy".... like scuba divers say.. so "how cold is it?"  THRs are not for the elderly any more and besides who said over 60's .. it's over... very important and thanks Mic for raising (oops!) this topic...

Experiment and be gentle.

Recommend chandelier is not used for at least 12 months

Oh bugger, you mean I have to wait another 10 months there's always something !

Don't recall Christian Grey having this problem!!

Ah but the good side to that is that you will not have any damaged light fittings for a while !!

That's true Trevor there's always a bright side lol !

3gillee - I take it you've seen the film then !

On the basis of Christian Greys reported excesses one can only assume he will have hip/groin problems in due course !!! Perhaps it will be the subject of the fourth book "Fifty Shades of Greying"

Excellent - I think you should put your idea forward, you could become a millionaire ! ( or earn a tenner lol)

No haven't .. and would not bother... but with everything else he is supposed to do.. he obv left out ..."how to post hip op!"  Talking of hip probs later on.. Have any of you seen the Chinese Ballet Swan Lake...!!! You Tune obv... AMAZING.. but How how they don't have hip probs later in life..

They probably do , we just don't hear about them lol.

Maybe on this site in years to come. I'll look out if I'm on here after my second or third replacement lol !
