Lexapro for Generalized Anxiery Disorder

I suffer from GAD for years now i had overactive thyroid as well so i always thought its because of this. Now the problem is my anxiety is very bad  at the moment with all the nasty physical symptoms chocking sensation heart palpitations sweating panic attacks not being able to sleep properly or eat.I was able to take buses no problem but ended up getting an attack on it during christmas so i havent taken any for the last 5 months.I was prescribed lustral 2 years ago and i thought its gonna be ok but the panic attack i got wasnt a normal one i got a huge panic attack to the point where i was turning purple and couldnt breath from the fear i couldnt see properly either my heart was going out of the chest it the symptoms didnt even last for a day but 2 days woke up with a panic attack after that day too.I could say im a vetran with attacks now and this was not a normal attack the doctors told me it couldnt be from lustral becouse it doesnt even work straight away.I was presribed lexapro recently but im scared to take it.just wandering if someone had that reaction ever with antidepressants ? Because its super frightening and if thats how it works the few weeks it adjusts to the body its really hell.

Dear klaudia99468

I used to take lexapeo generic name escitalopram i suffered from lots of anxiety duo to terrible negative thinking ritual every issue seemse to have a big impact on my life so i have realised that no matter how the drugs work thank god we at least have access to them, especially a person like myself what i would suggest you is that maybe you can give lexapro a try since for me the first time i took it i cried from releif i said to myself how sttpid i was for suffering for so long but with me i made a big mistake of continuity and discontinued without drs supervision so i took it several times sonce then but the effect hasnt been the same but it still does its trick for anxiety, but since i have pther problems to direct i will have to switch the medication as for you maybe u can do some research and work with your doctor and see whats your best option all the best to you.

I took Lexapro for 3 years. It worked really well, until it didn't anymore. I had no side effects other than feeling overheated when I panicked and getting 'chills'. Then one day, out of the blue, I suddenly started to feel SO SO SO SO tired, would sweat during sleep, almost like I was going through withdrawals? I was very nauseated... very anxious, would wake up in panic mode. I had to get off it. Side effects slowed when I started to take less and then eventually stopped once I was off it. It was very very scary. Unfortunately, I've had the same side effects with any anti-depressant that I tried after lexapro. You know your body best at the end of the day. So if this is scaring you, then I'd get off it.
