Lichen Sclorosis and antibiotic treatment.

I have suffered with this horrible condition since 1999. I find there is evidence that it can be treated with intramuscular antibiotics and that has been known for a while by medics. I cannot believe what I and every other sufferer has gone through when there was another answer on treatment. I feel sick!

Anyone know of a private vulval clinic experienced in this type of treatment please pm me.

Hi Sky, I have never heard this theory, about the antibiotic therapy. Can you rebound on this and where you heard about it? Very interesting. We would all like to learn more. Thank you!

Sorry, meant to say can you expound on.This theory?

I got a new dermotologist who was chatty. She said they could have been treated with antibiotic but for the problem it caused with thrush. She did not expound further. I went home and googled Lichen Sclorosis and antibiotics. There is a fair amount on this so have a go at it. I am furious there was another choice..I doubt we will get this on NHS as a tube of clob is cheaper. Xxxxx

Also, I have a few bad things in my blood. One is Rickettsia Typhus. It is caught in a variety of ways. I dont know how long I have carried this, it does still show as positive despite treatment and levels slightly increase occasionally . Now this is not something that is normally tested for... in my case i had to go to a private lab in the UK. i wonder if something like this is at the root of Lichen Sclorosis...

With that being said, Did this dermatologist prescribe antibiotics for you to treat the lichen. Haven't looked it up yet, but I wonder if it would be for a potential secondary bacterial infection due to cracks or openings in the skin?

No, she did not offer antibiotics. I had already been on doxy for other problems. No it seems clear enough on antibiotic treatment for lichen however not lichen planus. Xx
