im not quiet due for my cancer smear yet but im dreading it if i cant have sex without it painfully hurting how am i supposed to have a smear test and be ok afterwards do i ask for lubrication or will effect the test its crazy help

do not worry. the doctor will ensure that you are well lubricated and it will only take a second (similar to a pin prick). No comparison to soreness you feel with ls. cheer up. sleep well

Hi Moggy,
Ask if you can have some anisthetic gel - lidocane - before hand, also works if you use before sex, takes away the pain but not the feeling - condom for your man though! Sore afterwards though. Hope this helps.

When you go for your cervical smear, explain to the nurse about your LS, and ask if she can lubricate the instrument with KY gel before insertion. KY jelly does not affect the result of the smear, whereas some other ones do.
I have been a nurse since 1972!!! , have been a midwife and now work as a practice nurse ( often doing smears) and did not know about LS until I got it myself!!! It has been a steep learning curve, but learning how to manage it now.
I think LS is a little known about disease, and often not diagnosed quickly because of it. Hopefully, if we all speak to our gp and p nurse, we can all educate each other!!!
