Hi I have been diagnosed with mild gastrits which i believe has been brough t on by alcohol. I would normally feel pain day 24 hours or so after drinking. Does anyone else experience this, My liver is OK. However I now think I have to depart from the world of alcohol. Whist giving up alcohol is not the problem, giving us my social life is. This is why I work Monday to Friday to have a social life at weekend and a bit of a laugh. Did anyone else feel like well life is now over, whats point of going out, weekends away, holidays? Feel like the biggest bore around. Anyone? Thank You
It really depends on how much you are drinking, Lucy. Excessive alcohol consumption can cause gastritis or make it worse. The recommendation would be to stop drinking altogether to allow your stomach to have a rest and then drink in moderation once the gastritis is gone (no more than one or two drinks a day.)
Thank you for your reply. I was drinking half a bottle of wine a night and binging at weekend ,from early 30s I am now 48. The last two and a half years next to nothing going sometimes four months with no alcohol. When I have drank in this period max 3 glasses of wine then 7 days break couple of glasses weekend after then 7 days off etc, then with big month gaps inbetween with nothing.. Not sure how long my stomach would take to heal, but seem to dip my toe back in water and no it hasnt. Still experience mild pain in the months with no alcohol but alcohol certainly seems to disagree with it. Does anyone have similar experiences thank you
you have a very unusual story Lucy since you managed to stop for 4 months and that I not something I have seen before. Not certain what to suggest on loosing your social life..go out with friends who accept your new lifestyle?? no booze?? just wondering...best of luck for certain
