Hi hippies,
I am interested to know how did you go on about returning back to work, how long did it take you to go back to work?
Also, has your persepective changed and felt like I dont belong in this job anymore and need to do more with my life or something I love?

Hi there
I just had my surgery 5 weeks ago i am also dwelling on tge same issue . Mine is more a desk job but will have to consider based on life long restrictions that will be known to me after i meet my dr next week. Can anyone in this forum let me know what kind of restrictions will be there i am only 41 yrs of age.
beside jumping and running as jogging or playing soccer or basketball that they dont recommend as for the duration of the protesis nothing else.
my dr told me i can dance and do watever i want, after the apropiate healing time.
there even ballet dancers that have 2 hip replacement look at youtube, i dont know your case but mine 37 the dr told me after the 3 month nothing else.
I am the unfortunate case because I cook on my own in a nursery kitchen so very hard work. I am having nerve trouble, have been back to consultant and they have said internal stitching has caught nerves inside and also rubbing on bone very fed up cause pain before op most have gone but another pain now hope just don't Rush and get plenty of rest
well i am a chef and he told me i can go back to the kitchen as soon as i feel confortable THATS MY SECOND CAREER, like i am doing a sedentary job cause i coulnd handle it before
I so wanna get back to work but at moment can't walk without stick as pain gets so bad and leg gives way so gotta wait to have more injections
I am fortunate in working at home but I was back at my desk seven days after the op. Hoevever, on the orders of my partner I had to have breakfast (happy to do as I am told !!) in bed at 8am and not allowed to get up until 9am. I also took on board the consultant advice that if I felt tired just rest. I did have times when without me realising, I would do too much and suffer the next day frrom aches but part of it is a learning process. After 10 weeks, I had no pain at all so it was all worth it. Good luck
the pain if because been tired like muscle like after you run you get soar_ or is like a pain like before the operation
Hi
The pan after th op would be in the hip, soty of dull ache but sufficient to make you limp. However, my physio did say that we forget this is major trauma surgery so treat your body with respect and if it tells you its tired - Rest !
Hi I am now 10 weeks post op. 57yr. I am in sales and visit customers in the field. I have been told by my GP that I could go back to work if I could work from home contacting customers. He's not happy about me driving long distances and having yo walk a way with my bags etc.
work have refused to let me work from home! So no pay but SSP for another 3 weeks!
very disappointed as worked for this company now for 17 years. I have had a lot of time to think about my next few years in employment and I feel it's time to change things. Will go back in three weeks but thinking of other things meanwhile.
the longer I'm off the less I want to go back..
wwow thats a lot not working for 10 weeks
I know how Yu feel but I want to go back but can't go back yet cause off nerve damage when I had op which I now have to have some injection off some kind, just hope it works as am going bonkers
georgina sorry to hear you, yes after nerve damage yo u will have to wait more
sorry to hear Sparky, i know how you feel
thanks Trevor, glad to know you are well....wish i could switch to work from home instead and take all the time I need to recover
I'm in uk 6-8 weeks after op but depends on job, type of op and incision and individual healing process.
Yes it is and it's true that the longer you are off the more you don't want to return 😒
Good luck with your surgery. I am a tugboat Captain and was back to work in 90 days. The only perspective that changed for me is that I will NEVER have another surgery unless it's a matter of life and death. My surgeon was a hack.
