Life with Herpes: Does the daily medication cause any long-term affects?

Hey everyone,

I strongly believe that I have been infected with HSV-2 back in March. I got a viral culture done that month and it came back negative (the sores might have been in the healing phase.) I disregard that and went on thinking that it was a false alarm and happy that I didn’t have herpes. Come April and again I got blisters around my vulva, same thing in May and in June. In June I went back to get tested (viral culture) and I think I was too late again. My test result came back negative. I recently have an outbreak and immediately made another appointment and this time did another viral culture and also a blood test (not sure which one my gyno requested) but I am waiting for the results. The thing is I think I do have HSV-2 but I just want to make sure that it is diagnosed correctly. My gyno prescribed me Valtrex to be taken twice a day and also the daily suppressive therapy medication (forgot the name or which kind she prescribed me.)

For anyone who is doing the daily suppressive therapy how is that experience? Does it bring major side affects? With time does it prevent the outbreaks most of the time?

I can also do my research but if anyone would like to answer this main question I have about using the daily suppressive therapy does that bring any long-term effects? Does it damage your liver? I am a healthy person. My immune system has been really great, I never get the flu and I don’t want to run into any health issues because of my mistakes (although I am already paying this one off with HSV-2.)

I appreciate any advice/resources in advance, thank you!

how long after the sores appearing the first two times were your viral cultures negative

So for the first time I was on vacation in Mexico and I thought I was having a yeast infection since the only symptom I had was the itching . So it was like a week or so after that I checked myself and saw sores around my vulva and decided to schedule an appointment. My result was negative and that was in March. Fast forward to June my gyno was out on vacation and only wanted to go with him since I had a bad experience with someone else so I waited like 4 days to be seen. Too late, and my result came back negative. So this recent time I felt the itch and immediatly made the appointment.
