This forum has been a god send. Im 6 days post op, had banding/ligation for 2 x grade 3 internal hemmoroids, removal of skin tags and polyps in anal canal - so it was a triple whammy. Although the pain now is bearable, 3 days again I was wishing I had never had it done. I felt completely unprepared for this pain and SLOW recovery. I havent seen anyone comment on how they felt immediately post op. As soon as I woke I had an immense and urgent urge to have a bm that it freaked me out. I now know it was due to swelling but even this wasnt explained. 6 days post op there is a constant throb from my anus and blood during bm, but actually passing the motion has been relatively pain free and even soothing. It was sooo soft from matamucil, prune juice, smoothies snd copius amounts of water. Its the after it has passed that I dont feel fully 'emptied'. Possibly this is bacause the hemmoroid is still stuck in my butt !. God this is awful.
My question is related to banding. How long does it take to drop off and do you feel it disconnect or when you pass it? Thanks so much.
Sounds like you've been through the ringer. How big were your hemorrhoids and skin tags?
I had banding done in the past, unfortunately mine were so bad they came back.... where I eventually had a full on hemorrhoidectomy, removing two very large grade 3 hemorrhoids. I still have skin tags that need to be removed... but have to wait a couple of months.
Anyway, regarding the banding, typically it takes a few days to a week... which will most likely come out during a bm... and I assure you, you won't feel a thing.
I'd say you most like feel you need to have a bm due to swelling from your other procedures... what ever you do.... don't force.... the last thing anyone wants is to go through it all over again or worse like I did and go through the hemorrhoidectomy.... which is a long painful recovery.
However coming back to the banding.... after a few days... you'll be free... but as for the swelling... if they didn't tell you.... that may be a couple of weeks before it's completely healed.
Just be patient and try not to rush into anything too strenuous for a few weeks... as mentioned.... nobody wants to go through that again or end up having a hemorrhoidectomy.
My suggestion is lots of water, fiberous foods... stay away from booze and other carbonated drinks... and especially fried and processed foods.
Good luck with your healing...

I had hemmohrodectomy done 8 weeks ago . I am 95% healed now .
Prior to the surgery , I had rubber band ligation 6 tines . There was no pain at all and I didn’t feel a thing . However , I wasn’t happy with the results since I had surgery done and now it is like night and day . Feel much better !
Whiskey3, I was offered banding and am leaning towards surgery. Feeling very apprehensive from all the horror stories, but life with Grade IV bulging hems is really getting me down. Wondering, what pushes hems sufferers over the edge? I think I will start my own thread...it would help me to understand.
