Light at the end of the tunnel

Hi everyone, just a quick note. I am 10 weeks post op and returning to work tomorrow.

This site has helped me put my mind at rest many times over the last 10 weeks and for that I am grateful.

I didn't know what to expect from having a THR but any questions I had were answered.

I feel so much better for having the operation and at 47 I am looking forward to getting back to work and being happy again.

Thank you for being my support when I needed it.

Take it easy. I’m 51

Went back to work last week   Working from home 2 days then full on rest of week. I was shattered fri eve . Felt benefit of going to staff rest room in aft to put feet up for half hour. Don’t over do it. If you can get a phased return so you can choose to do half days so less pressure for you that would be good.

Helen-

Congratulations on your successful outcome- it's encouraging to hear those good results.  It's important to remember the majority of hip replacement surgery is successful- the statistics indicate between 90-95% so the the odds are in our favor and as technology and surgical skill continues to improve the outcome percentages should as well for those still on the fence.  At nine weeks after my left Hip Re Surfacing I am pain free in that hip, am gaining strength and flexibility slowly but steadily and I am scheduled to get my right hip Re Surfaced 9/18/18-  six days from now.  Surgery carries risk and I am resolved to accept those risks unconditionally as the best hope for a way forward.  I also have the complete confidence in my surgeon, a world renown Orthopedic specialist in Re Surfacing who has already fixed the first and worse of my condition and has several thousand Hip Re Surfacing procedures successfully under his belt.  To those struggling through the decisions needed to be made to go through with surgery, I hope some of you find encouragement inn my post and this thread, and Helen congratulations as well for the courage you showed to move forward in your life, danger be damned  "Sometimes the cards ain't worth a damn if you don't lay them down".

I've found it's nice to connect with other people who are in the same position. I had my op 6 weeks ago on Monday and am recovering well. Much quicker that I expected. Good luck on your return to work.

Helen! So lovely to hear your positive comments re hip replacement! I too had mine just three weeks ago and already am feeling the benefits!  No pain in my groin like before, just a few aches around my pelvis and femur which I am sure is normal after such an invasive op! My scar is a bit tingly but otherwise fine! Managing with only one crutch around the house now! I would certainly reccommend the op to anyone thinking whether they should have it or not!

Can't wait to get back to driving my car again without pain on braking and accelerating! Roll on post-op check up in three weeks!😊
