Early last year i been to the doctor back n fort. My girst complain was light headedness, followed by heart palpitations, fear and don't like to be alone. I have many test eg MRI, blood test, cardiology they all come normal thank God. I always have this weird feeling that when I'm walking i feel like I'm going to pass out. Then come the panic attact which i did not know where it come from. But finally the doctor told me that i have stress related anxiety. He prescribed me a flouxetine 20 mg. I start taken them for first week at night then come side effect couldn't go to sleep, heart palpitation fear feeling, lost appetite. Then doctor change it to morning but still suffer insomnia and he give me amitriptyline for sleep. I been on 20mg for 12 weeks it help my anxiety except for my light headed. So went for follow up then doctor up my dosage to 40 mg a day to level it .I been on it for 3 weeks now but still feel light headed just dont wanna do anything. I only feel it when i move around but laying n setting is fine.
My question is...Is there anyone have similar experience about me on anxiety. I feel like there in no end. I just want my old self back. Pls help. Want to hear ur experience for reassurance.
Many thanks
Pam 😢😢😢
Hiya Pam,
I've been doing a ton of reading about fluox lately and sometimes it can take many months for it to fully settle in your system. Until it does, ask about maybe going on beta blockers, like propranolol. What those do is stop rush of adrenaline the preceeds the panic attacks so they don't start, or are much less severe. They seem to work ok for me. Though, next doctors visit I'm going to ask for a dosage increase as my morning anxiety has been brutal lately.
I'm on week 5 and I'm still getting the lightheadedness too, almost like I have a slight buzz. Too many other side effects to list but we will get there eventually.

Forgot to add that I've been taking a magnesium taurate supplement and its definitely helping dull out the worst anxiety. You may not be able to find that at your drug store, all they have at mine are magnesium oxide which doesnt get absorbed as much and isnt too effective.
Hope this helps
Hi Neil thank you for the reply. I did take beta blocker b4 but i suffer bad insomia so doctor toke it of me. How many mg do u take on floux? Thank you the suggestion too I'll ask the health shop for that kind of magnesium.
Pam 😊
Hi again Pam,
I'm on 20 mg and have been since starting. I got the insomnia bouts too and the doc gave me something for that as well, its called trazadone and sometimes if the insomnia is bad I'll take 1-2 melatonins with it and that seems to do the trick.
Your light headedness may pass eventually, you're 3 weeks into the new dose so its like starting all over again with side effects. Has it gotten better or worse over the last week?
-Neil
Hi Neil
Thank u for reply. My light headedness is pretty much the same before i even started flou. But sometimes it does feel worse when i get stress .
Hope u coping well
Pam ☺
Hi Pam,
Is it like a physical feeling of dizzy and wobbly or is it more of a mental state? With me I feel a bit light headed but my head is also foggy and I cant think straight am I'm super sensitive to any type of stressor when I feel like that. Just wondering if we are talking about the same sensation.
Today was one of the good days for me, so I'm grateful for that. Hope you are doing well too
-Neil
Hi Neil
Thanks once again for replying. My lightheadedness is constant most of the day all day. I can concentrate but its hard when i start walking . U know the feeling like dizzy when u walk u feel like ur out of balance and ur feet legs feel heavy to walk. And if i move my focus quickly it get worse. Then i get anxious about it then i get headache.
Oh I went to see my dr. today and i told him that i still feel light headed most of the day when I'm moving around. Anyway to cut the story short he prescribed me a tablets for trail n see him again in 2 weeks to see how i go. I might need to see the ear nose n throat especialist.
Im glad u had a good day today. Keep it up.
U know what i hate taking tablets but i have no choice but to do it lol...i want my old self me 😀
Pam
Hey Pam,
You will get there! Just keep telling yourself that and try to be positive. An ENT sounds like a good idea, it may be that you have some inner ear issue affecting your balance. What you describe is different than my head problems. I feel light headed but it doesnt really affect my balance or walking. With mine it almost feels like a slight buzz or like when you have a severe cold.
Anyways, hope the new tablets help with it and you get some relief soon. Keep your chin up
-Neil

Hiya Pam,
I feel the exact same way about this site! I was so low when I signed up and I've been doing a lil better each day. Yes yes lets keep in touch! Its definietely theraputic being here to share each others problems and help encourage each other. I'd still be a mess without this place.
My day hasn't been too bad, some morning anxiety and nausea, but its burned off by this evening. Hope your day is going well. Can't wait to hear about how it went with your ENT.
Have a great Easter too
Neil
Hi Neil
Happy easter. How's ur easter weekend ? Hope all good.. Me not so good. I feel terrible 😢 i don't know how this awful feeling would last? Man... I'm feeling so low and anxious about this anxiety business.
Pam
Hey Pam,
Happy Easter too! I'm sooo sorry you are feeling terrible again, but just know that it will get better someday. What helps me is trying to do 'normal' things. I know it feels impossible, but I find when I force myself to do something I would normally be doing, or even just a task to keep my mind occupied, my focus shifts from how terrible I feel to what I'm doing. My counsellor also told me that I should do one nice thing for myself every day and it gives me something to look forward to a little.
My weekend was actually not too bad! I've been dreading being home by myself for the weekend but I actually had three ok days. Friday night was the best I felt since I've been on the Prozac and it felt like I awoke from a really bad dream. But things went back down a bit Saturday and some today too, but its still managable and definitely better than the last 2 weeks. Oh and I'm now on day 40. What day are you on?
Just try to hang in there and keep your thoughts as positive as possible and enjoy the good moments when they come. They will happen more and more frequently.
-Neil
I also have that my doctor just put me on 40 I'm taking two pills of 20 now this is my first day and I'm being optimistic about it , I also have the dizziness / lightheadedness side effect it sucks and u can't do anything but I think that the medicine will help u just have to be optimistic and give it time
Hi Nicole we get there eventually. We just let the med do the work. I'm the same i can't handle the dizziness / lightheaded symptoms. This forum is awesome. It help me a lot of my health anxiety meanly.
Keep strong 😊
Pam
Hi Neil
Thank you for ur comforting words. I'm glad ur weekend was good. I do try to keep myself occupied but sometimes it's hard though. Today was ok day for me doing nothing 😀😀😀 its public holiday here so enjoying the rest day.
Im on 47 day on 40 mg.
How's ur day been ?
Pam
Hey Pam,
I know what you mean. It's like the last thing you want to do is something normal, and you feel like you can't when your so anxious. But I find when I can force myself, it generally starts to get my mind out of those dark alleys. Today has been another good day here, and though I'm still bothered by some of the side effects, they seem to get to me less and less each day. My morning anxiety went missing today so I hope that continues!
Glad you had an ok day too and that you got a nice restful holiday, maybe things are starting to turn the corner for us.
Neil
Hi Neil
Goodmorn here. I'm so happy for you, your side effect got lessen and your morning anxiety is missing? Wow thats sound too good hopefully it continues.
My day yesterday was ok i did not take my dizziness tablets. I only take them if i needed it but so far soooo good. I hope it keep going.
I hope your right maybe its starting to turn the corner for us, finger cross 😇
We can all get trough this.
Pam
Hey Pam,
The morning anxiety returned today grrr but all in all it was another decent day. Now I'm starting to feel like even if I stop improving and stay like this, its manageable enough to be able to live a semi normal life
Glad you had another ok day, and remember anything thats not a bad day is one step closer to recovery! small steps forward
Hey Neil
I'm sorry about ur morning anxiety 😦 but at least its manageable that's the good thing.
My days not so good everytime my sinus play up argggh... it makes my dizziness worse and plus facial ache and headache. I can't wait for Wednesday to come to see my doctor again and send me to ent specialist. I think my dizzyness something got to do with my sinus.
Yey thank God tomorrow is Friday 😊 hope your day was good.
Pam
