Hi all new to this site, but came to it looking up other people's anxiety regarding rabies. I was watching a hive an hour before sunset when I felt a sting in back of my leg. Just put my hand on the area and a few minutes later put alcohol on it. didn't really look at it . The next day some campers (I'm in a summer camp) told me they found a bat hanging under a porch which was near where I was and scared it away. Now I went into panic mode! What if that bat was and the sting I felt was a bat! I didn't think it was a bee because my pants are somewhat baggy. Why is a bat out in the day! The only consolation about this is that I have had sensations before and being I'm on a heightened alert, These things happen. But I still am uneasy about it. Can anyone here empathize with what I'm describing? does anyone have any suggestions to lessen my anxiety?
I would reach out to your primary doctor and get his/her opinion. I know that in our state there are certain situations where they recommend you go through the rabies protocol. Like if you wake up and there’s a bat in your bedroom. Even if you have no sign of a bite. That said, I think rabies is pretty rare. I researched it this spring because my cat killed one in our house and i was worried it was rabid. We had to send it tho the State Lab for testing…it was negative.
Thanks for the reply.
I called the board of Health, the CDC a Doctor Friend who has administered the Rabies vaccination to others. Everyone has told me not to worry. But easier said than done.
Thanks again!
