My whole body shakes from lithium. Dr decreased my does today down to 600 mg a day. Does any one know of any essential oils that would help with this until my lithium levels decrease
Hi there I'm on lithium.it may be an idea to decrese it slower.i take omega fish oils.not sure if it will help tremors tho.its it a withdrawal affect or anxiety, of coming off lithium.perhaps you can get advise from your gp n do it slower, when I've reduced it,I cut tablets in half it sounds like your doing it to quick, hope it gets bit better for you,I would diffently go bk to your doctor tho....
Lithium is a horrible drug. I was on it 20 years and the only way to reduce the tremors to a liveable level was to decrease the dose but then it was so low it didn't work.
I've never heard of any essential oils to help. From a pharmacological point of view I can't see much basis in them for this indication.
Propranolol certainly helps with tremors. That's a known use of it. It helped me get through uni. My shaky hands were so bad in lab sessions I had very poor fine motor control otherwise.
If the lithium tremor is so bad it affects your life too much you should be on another mood stabliser. There are alternatives.
Lavender oil or any type of product containing lavender might help. It's a lovely smell. If you invest in a bottle of lavender essential oil, please don't use too much - 6 drops at a time maximum - essential oil is very strong and too much will cancel out any benefits. Also please dilute any essential oils in a base oil such as almond or olive first before applying them to the skin or using in a burner or bath. Lavender is known to be a relaxing aroma and maybe it will help your tremors.
