little pain

i am  still on 1.5  pred and still tapering.   but  i still have a little pain

on scale of one to ten ,   i would say 2,    but  will that continue  to go when i  have  come off pred altogether. or do i hav to wait untill all the  pain has gone completly.    before  i stop pred.    this is the  bit i am  confused about

Oh gosh how good are you it is better to go to just 1 and then half of that do just one for as long as you are comfortable say a month and work down till nil. It prob is best to be pain free totally as don't forget Pmr can flare up anytime.I am on two for another week then one and half for a couple weeks and so on. I have had Pmr for two years in April so hopefully offered altogether by then. Good luck.

It depends on whether it is pain that has always been there during your taper or whether it is pain that is returning as you get a lower dose. In the second it could be a sign that the underlying autoimmune disorder that causes PMR symptoms is still there and that may mean staying on that low dose of pred a bit longer. In PMR the pred is managing the pain - but if you haven't had pain all the way through you are very very lucky. Not a lot of people are totally pain free.

Some people have had some stiffness and discomfort after coming off pred which eventually faded and disappeared after some months.

Pauline, I would 'march time' if I were you, staying at your present dose for a while longer rather than taper any further.  If there is still some inflammation lurking, it will not go when you get "off Pred altogether" - rather it is likely to worsen into a possible flare.  1.5mg is such a tiny dose and unlikely to be causing any side effects, so well done for reaching that point - such a shame to take any chances now having come this far.
