Living on a soup diet, need some answers with Acid Reflux.

I am 26 year old, female. Height 5'4,and weight 130 pounds (not over weight.)

I've been dealing with Acid Reflux seriously for about a year.

It started when i over ate, when i would go to bed and digest my food it would wake me up from stomach pain and back pain. Went and saw a doctor and they gave me an ultrasound. They found that i have 2 gallstones in my gallbladder.

After they found that I went for a different test to test what percent my gallbladder was working. It came back fine, working at 98%. This is when they noticed my acid reflux & i was put on a medication of 1 pill a day.

This pill worked for me for about 4-5months, until i got back from vacation and i forgot my pill 1 day. I was in pain from everything i ate for about 3 weeks. Even went to emergency a couple times.  I then upped my prescription to 2 pills a day. This worked for about a month.

I went and got a Gastroscopy and they found that i have a hernia in my stomach. and never really got 'the next step' from any professional.

I finally went back to the doctors and they put me on a new prescription lasted about 2 months. Today, for the last 2 weeks i cannot eat anything, I've been living off a soup diet for lunch & dinner with yogurt in the morning. I tried just eating healthier, fish instead of poultry or red meat, more vegetables, more water, less dairy, less gluten & the pain just keeps getting worse.

I'm eating about 1000 calories a day, I'm starving, I'm exhausted from the pain & exhausted from not sleeping. - at this point i don't believe its based on my diet.

I have another Gastroscopy coming up this week, they will be feeding me something with a radioactive tracer to watch the acid in my stomach.

Please help.

To be honest that hernia is causing all these problems for you if you get that hernia fixed I can almost guarantee you most of your issues will go away. I had a hernia as well but I also had another procedure to correct my acid reflux and to this day I have had no issues with it it feels like I got my life back and don't have to worry about what I eat how much of what I eat I feel fantastic. To be honest your doctors are not fixing the issue at all they're trying to put a bandaid on what the problem is they're not trying to fix it at all. The procedure is called Linx. And all these pills they put you on like the PPI meds they are not good for you they will do more harm to your body than good.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry you have had to suffer so much. I just had to respond to your writing. I have undergone a Nissen Fundoplication. It's a surgery to to stop gurd/acids from the gallbladder and/or stomach from coming up into the esophagus. At the same time they repaired a hiatal  hernia. Please do your homework and research the horrible side effects of this surgery should they suggest it for you. After surgery I couldn't eat anything without pain- the suffering has now lasted 7 months. I have undergone multiple tests - radioactive etc They determined they made a mistake- I should not have had the surgery and that I needed my gallbladder looked at further. But they say my gallbladder is fine. Then why couldn't I eat. why did my stomach blow up after every meal and send me to the ER multiple time and why was I waking up in pain. I lost 17 lbs and continued to deteriorate under their care.

I finally said to hell with them all. I am now 95% pain free. I eliminated all of their medications. I will only take mylanta and/or gasX should I eat the wrong thing. I do not go to bed or lie down within three hours of eating. I adhere to a very strict diet of absolutely no fats, no processed foods, no caffeine, no cruciferous vegetables and no sugar. I eat every three hours- little amounts at a time. I drink lots of fluids. I take 500-1000 mg of magnesium every night to keep my stools very loose and to keep constipation at bay. I also found an incredible advanced enzyme formula for digestion- I take one first thing in the morning- It is solely responsible for eliminating that burning pain that was 24/7 in my gut. I am now maintaining my weight of 112 lbs (I am 5'3&quotwink- it is no longer declining. If I had waited for them I would have surely parished by now.

I just found out my surgeon gave me Cipro- a very powerful antibiotic during surgery unbeknownst to me. The side effects are torn tendons in the shoulders. My MRI's came back yesterday and I have two torn tendons- one in each shoulder. Now i am in excruciating pain-Please dont let them give you cipro or leviquin. Good luck to you.
