I'm in So. Cal. and the OS who did my Anterior replacement came highly recommended by 3-4 people who had success, they said back in 2010 before I opted for the surgery.
I went ahead and have been left with Femoral Nerve Damage, IT Band damage and leg discrepancy.....it's been a mess....but no Groin Pain which is what pushed me to do this surgery.
I have lodged my comments on a review site here called Yelp, maybe it's all over, I don't know.....
Well, today, another person responded to my comments with this:

I said previously they are looking for guinea pigs (sorry, candidates). Even in the uk where they're salaried things are changing in that they need quotas and to chalk up their air miles.
What is most misleading is that no one ever mentions at pre op appointments the failure rate or that there are no guarantees. All my questions were brushed aside and the answers were simply way off the reality. Potential surgery candidates should ask those on this site. While we need to be encouraging we should tell just that. No guarantees and even then things can change radically over the course of recovery (or not)
Oh, I've had a STRONG distrust for the medical industry for a long time....that is the MAJOR reason I've become so holistic/alternative healing for the last 25 yrs give or take..... I have stories I could write a book about from medical world...
Now why I put my trust in this doc, I don't know.....did I really need the replacement, I wonder more and more.... Could the groin pain have been "cured" other ways......maybe I did "need" the replacement to feel better groin-wise.....maybe it's just failures when one goes to this surgery world.
My mom who lived to 91 and has been gone now 14 yrs, always said,,,,they will NEVER open me up. She struggled with OA into her end of life, but no surgeries for the OA...
Today, there are so many bone building products, a lot of supplements I use and will continue........so.....doing all I can to keep walking with this mess....

UR original X-rays pre op will tell u the true condition of UR hip and possibly take a copy of it to another surgeon to evaluate if in fact THR surgery was necessary. U never have to always wonder it's in the medical records. Ins has to also approve the surgery ask UR ins. Co. For the information sent for authorization for the THR .
I know the pain you have endoured has been inconscionsible. There needs to be more infor. to follow thru after surgery and evaluations to assist patients who are having difficulty from surgery. There is no system in place to help.
Many have been left in the dark wondering exactly what u have unnecessarily .
In Europe their r yearly reports on THR surgeries and the success rate or failure rate on rack dr and clinic. The US has no system to check on the dr who hold our futures at risk
i have published reports from the UK ON THIS SITE regarding manufacturers and age and drs success rate. Many comparisons THR also google it recalled implants r a major issue in THR failure rate alone with many other variables.
what has been suggested to help u thru this and help u heal emotionally and physically?
i am very concerned that U have had to deal with & cope with the results of a less than favorable outcome from THR. Is UR dr OP REPORT on hand if u can get a copy may or may not help.
i too have been in severe pain since 2011 as my STRYKER ABG ll press fit THR
HAS BEEN RECALLED for metal on metal design which causes heavy metal poisoning , tissue & bone necrosis just to name a few.
I hope UR filing a complaint can help u get a resolution, & at the very least get the ball rolling..
Yes I'm the quintessential alternative and take many of the supplements you do. Alkaline diet no sugar. I could write to poor Larry a whole thesis. But we can't preach. And most people pooh pooh it all until they fall ill and conventional medicine can't help.
For THR tho, what else can you do when the femoral head is grinding its way through the pelvis. Maybe we should have been given a warning in our sporting days when we were running riding aerobic high impact healthy living. But then we would have had possibly cardiac problems and obesity.

Yes, if only if only if only...I loved exercise and did it all my life, not a runner though....even worked at one point in Jane Fonda's video company....she is a year older than me and has had a hip replacement....lots of other "work" too but that is not relevant here.....she's a fine actress....
the complaint is on a general board where people review things like restaurants, doctors and lots more...
I have not lodged a formal complaint with medical world.... But I know I'm not alone with all this damage....just makes me want to NEVER do surgery again.
I have the OS report but get exhausted trying more docs, etc.....I'm living with what I have but does help to vent on these replacement boards...

I'm sorry maybe I'm a bit slow but I don't understand the complaint board u speak of.. Maybe its on line reviews for docs ? Is that where u mean?
U understand that if damage is left from OA U RISK FURTHER BONE DAMAGE AND TISSUE/ nerve damage..serious damage life Long risks . THR gives mobility even some like us have pain. But.. We r not in a wheel chair for life.
Supplements cannot rebuild cartilage which is warn away with OA Causing the pain. the bones r wearing out ny rubbing against each other in the ball joint ...bone on bone. With no cushioning could lead to even more serious health issues even fatal.
If u have the pre and post op reports wouldn't it be to UR advantage to know for sure if this THR surgery was necessary. If u think it was done without sufficient OA damage. Insurance is also involved they must approve the THR surgical proceedure. .
i would think just for peace of mind it I had any question of my doc doing unnecessary THR for the very least exhausting or not I would seek another opinion. All u need to do is sent a copy to another THR specialist. Not to much work. Sometime's it's worth the answers another evaluation may have some answers and help and give u peace of mind. One way or another. The proof is in the original PRE-OP X-RAY wouldn't u think.
My first hip was done 14 years ago and still going strong. The second fix not that great a recall and excruitating pain. 
Sorry bout my typing errors I am nearly blind in one eye the other I see double & with a gimpy hand that types only with a stylus pen cus can't open hand. Due to arthritis.then combine that with auto spell correct its no wonder anyone understands what I write. LOL 
Hope, the site is called Yelp and it's for good and bad reviews on a lot of issues, services, etc.....it's out of Los Angeles and perhaps it's not in the UK, probably not. Maybe all of the U.S. I don't know.

If my replacement lasts 14 yrs I may be gone from this earth by then. I'm resigned to my life has changed but thank goodness it happened in my late years...I guess that's a consolation.

Joy for some reason I mistook yr post. You need to be speaking to that person to consolidate yr experiences. I understood supplements but clearly yrs is a much more complex issue. Do it.

found UR complaint. Ok .. Sorry bout UR knee is another issue too. Both mine have OA as well as back problems and struggling with after care and rehab made them worse..
It took me 2 years to recover the first to.. Still working on the second.
Give it time and PT AN HELP WITH TEACHING MOVEMENTS. Also build tendon up after surgery my IT BAND had micro tears and that takes a long agonizing time to heal.
How's UR femur pain what r they doing for you?

Joy according to various sites he operates from 6 locations. Reviews I read are not bad. Reviews on my own not bad either. My mailman had his done by same surgeon and is 200%. Outcomes not predicted by surgeon reputation like charcuterie quality not dependent on butchering cut precision! I wish they just talked us through it before we committed. ... maybe then we wouldnt have awoken to shocked disbelief as I did

No, he's received a lot of positive reviews....who knows how many 1000's he does but the handfuls on Yelp were all pretty good....
My thinking is they can't give out possible negatives before surgery, as they don't know the exact outcomes...as I've said so many times, it's a crapshoot. My misery didn't start until 5th month post op. Initially, I was doing very good, I thought.
Never a crutch, a walker for a few days, and a cane a couple times outside.....then bammmm.
