Long-lasting concussion, or something worse?

Five weeks ago, when I foolishly mixed alcohol with sleeping pills, I went sleep-walking, fell-down the stairs and hit my head on the edge of a hardwood table in the hall.

I sustained quite a nasty cut just above my forehead, and knocked myself out.  I had to be rescued and taken to hospital, where I had some staples applied to the wound, and was then released.

Apart from the head being sore, I felt OK after that, and the staples were removed after a week.

However, over the past couple of weeks, I have been having headaches, dizziness, feelings of unreality and a feeling that I am finding it hard to articulate.  My speech is also a bit altered and my legs feel a bit weak.

Does this seem like late-onset concussion?  If so, can I expect these problems to resolve themselves?

Or does it seem like something else?

I would appreciate any comments, thank you.

I think it would be a good idea to  go back to A & E.  When you had your first treatment, were you given a leaflet about warning symptoms and reasons to return?  I'm not a doctor so can't advise you on the symptoms but do have a first aid qualification

Morning Gav;  with concussion you usually only have things like heaaches/blurred vision/vomiting.....and these normally pass within  24 hous......but from what you are saying re your legs/and difficulty with speech, perhaps you may need to speak with your GP/other dr, and see if they think a scan maybe needed......at least check this out with another dr, even if only to confirm that all is well  (but your head should be scanned in case there is a "small" bleed)???

I must admit that the worry of a "small bleed" had entered my mind.

However, I did wake-up this morning, after a good and long night's sleep, and felt considerably better - except for frequent all-over body sweats (about which I have posted elsewhere).

So, it's something (else) to discuss with my GP this coming Wednesday.

Thanks for the advice.
