I've suffered with anxiety and panic attacks for as long as I can remember but when perimenopause hit me it's off the charts all these hormonal symptoms scares me so bad and I'm so tired of running to the Dr test after test. I can't take no more when u have anxiety and panic attacks your Dr never takes you seriously I for one know for a fact that the hormonal changes is cause the anxiety not the other way around is there any other women her going through the change and it's made your anxiety and panic attacks worse? If so how do you do this?
Yeah I'm same..defo must be making it worse I think.
I'm 46 and I wish I had the answer😢 just living day by day praying it will get better. I jus wanna be normal again 😢🙏🙏
Me too 🤔
Oh God me too I never dreamed the change would be so hard and it's real physical symptoms and my Dr wants to keep throwing antidepressants at me that's not gonna fix it just mask the problem if these symptoms would stop my anxiety would calm down
I’m the same way since dealing with perimenopause my anxiety and panic attacks, doom gloom is much worse. I get scared every pain I feel I didn’t use to be like this at least not as bad. . It has to be the hormones! Ive been offered anti depressants, hrt suppose to be plant based? not sure about any of these. I eat very healthy exercise when my mood , body lets me. I never imagined perimopause could be like this. My family members only had hot flashes, plus my good friend hardly had anything either but for me it’s so difficult day to day I just try and hide it but it’s , there’s no words for it. I use an app called calm that’s helped me. I am thankful for this site as we as women are dealing with all these changes it’s great to have support
Really? I wonder if this app would be beneficial to me as well?
Hi,
I'm male, but panic/anxiety is "apparently" part and parcel of menopause, because of all the chemical changes it affects every part of your body, you are right though anti depressants won't fix the anxiety, it will the depression if any but not the anxiety, some have been lucky to escape the clutches of panic/anxiety with the use of anti depressants. Have you been tried on a benzodiazepine ?
I've tried so many there only thing I found to help without side effects is klonopine but my Dr won't prescribe it to me keeps throwing things I've already tried at me I e been on vistaril for two years now and to be honest that has no effect on me at all it does nothing I've told her that she just raises dosage 50 mg three times a day.
I can tell you why, because your doctor refuses to believe it works for you and because it's addictive, that's the only reason they won't continue prescribing it, I have been on Alprazolam (Kalma,Xanax) for 24 years with great success, was taken off it, in the wrong manner to mind you, I fell straight back into panic/anxiety (rebound to start of with) and was housebound again, my GP at the time openly admitted that she didn't like me being on it because she see's what addictive drugs can do, this GP was new to me at the time as my old doctor retired, the new GP openly said to my face that I was a drug addict and seeking it out and then went on to say she had a personal experience with drug addiction by her brother, a doctor should never bring in their personal family problems with patients, I seeked a second opinion with another doctor, the first question he asked me was I bet your doctor is young, I nodded yes and he shook his head in disbelief, he said why do doctors mess with patients medications when it's clearly working for them, he said sure your addicted to it but it's working and because of the amount of years I was on it for, I immedietly asked him if he would take me on as a new patient, from that day I was put back onto Kalma, the anxiety reduced and then disappeared, I wasn't housebound any more.
That's my opinion as well, why take a patient off a medication that is clearly working, regardless if it's addictive or not, if followed as prescribed things are fine. here where I am this drug is extremely closely monitored so the "abuse" is significantly reduced. possession with out authority is illegal here, I would imagine this is the same every where worldwide ?
