Longest time taken for Citalropram to kick in?

Hi,

What is the longest amount of time it has taken people for their Citalopram to properly kick in?

Has it taken longer the second time around?

What have people's difference between time taken first time around and time taken second time around.

I'm currently waiting for it to kick in 5 weeks after I started for the second time when it took 3 weeks first time around.

Is there anything you can do to speed up the process - ie excercise, meditating etc.

Thanks in advance

Bob

You're doing great trying meditation etc - sounds like you're being positive so that's a brilliant start! It varies from person to person; it's taken me a few weeks to see changes and another time it took longer, I guess it also depends on how bad your anxiety/depression is. Try not to focus on how you're feeling (easy to say I know!) and keep busy with work/exercise and soon you'll realise you'd not even noticed how you're feeling! Stay strong! ☺️

You can't hurry it as that'll make you tense and probably frustrated.  If the meds worked for you before, they'll work again.  It's hard waiting, but you'll get there.

This is my second time in the meds and it did take longer and I had a different experience.  This time I just had a long time feeling nothing - dead inside, a nothingness ..... and I sighed a lot.  I eventually got back to full recovery again.

Try and take a relaxed approach to life - slow down - walk and drive slower, stop rushing about, stop checking to see if 'it' is still there.  Eat well, exercise (daily walk is good), get to bed early, socialise if you can, take the meds and remind yourself you're recovering ..... slowly you'll start feeling the benefits and feeling well again.

This is my second time round with cit and I'm 6 months
