I've had non bacterial prostatitis on and off for 10 years. Am currently going through another flair up which means i can only work standing up, only look at TV laying down on my chest, can't ride a bicycle and can't have sex. Its really debilitating and getting me down. I haven't had my prostate checked for around 3 years and i need to see a urologist who is in Melbourne. Does anyone here know of a good urologist in Melbourne who specializes in treating prostatitis ? Someone that is understanding, intelligent and perhaps explores alternative therapies (as most people who have prostatitis end up living with it for the rest of their lives so hoping to find a urologist that thinks out of the box) I've previously been living in Vietnam for t 14 years but have recently (2 years ago) moved back to Melbourne . I can’t suggest anyone but typically a GP will refer you to one of his or her mates OR someone in the local area. IMHO it is rare for a GP to recommend an excellent specialist unless he or she has a relationship with them.
In your case you could approach the best teaching hospitals in Melbourne and look up the list of their urologists, bearing in mind some are cancer only focused and some have other focuses.
