I had a TKR in February 2013. In November 2013 it was removed as I had an infection. The revision was done 5 and half months later but that knee is still not good However, in November 2014 I had the second knee done by the same surgeon only to find now in 2018, after 5 opinions, that in fact it seems that the prosthesis i have is now a loose knee. So I am facing a revision of that leg now. Has anyone else had this problem
Sorry for you Elaine. This is outside of my experience but If I were you I would opt for a different surgeon and check him out first. Good luck,
What a nightmare for you!! I agree with Miriam, this is way outside my experience but I would get another doctor!
elaine
i havent had infections but hadb5th tkr last week i sm in agony
Sort of. I had to have a revision in 2013 because the stem came loose and was spinning. The following day I fell and twisted the femur into. They had to put a hip to knee plat in place. I was told this would be a permanent situation. 10 months later the plate was removed due t o the knee becoming terribly irritated. 6 weeks later I had a brutal stapb. They didnt remove the hardware just put me on antibiotic infusion. 10 months I fell and this time the infection returned and out came the hardware and 2 months of antibiotic infusion plus 2 more months of waiting before the new appliance was installed.
I have had 4 other opinions. This last surgeon found the loose knees. I looked online and there is currently a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the same prosthesis i have in both legs. Going to look into this.
Im on number 4. May have to have right done again too as also loose knee and painful. But i don't sleep because of left knee pai. Radiates up and down leg too
