Hi Karen, i am having to come off pred, and for the last 4 months have had trouble walking as my feet hurt so much, 1 week before christmas i had a steroid injection in my bum to see if this would help me as they dont know what is wrong, but it did not help, christmas day and boxing day i had to have help to walk , its a good job my son and his wife understood, so dont think you are alone, i hope the rhumy can help you, take care, lots of hugs Mags
There are no tests for PMR that can come back negative - the only things that MIGHT be positive are ESR and CRP which are what are called inflammatory markers that rise when there is inflammation somewhere in the body. However, in about 1 in 5 patients who have PMR or GCA they do not rise - for some reason their body is unable to respond in this way. There are a load of tests they should do that rule out OTHER illnesses that can cause the symptoms - PMR is what is called a diagnosis of exclusion: you rule out all the other options and then if PMR is all that's left, you try a moderate dose of pred.
Have you told us - why are you stopping the pred?
Hi Ksren I am following your discussion.
Besides my interest on the subject I am interest on your well being.
Glad to know at least you have an app to February.
I imagine this is the best you can do to get the professional help you are so much in need.
In this meantime who knows somehow you may get the help you need sooner than that.
Take care,
xxx
Ellen after six months I am ready to lose my mind just wondering what else to do from here February seems so far away
Really just need to find out what's going on if there's a cure or if I'm done for
Hi, Karen,
Just to let you know there are people like me reading your posts and interested, so you know you are not alone and you may get an answer to help you while waiting for your February app.
Take care.

I'm so sorry to hear how much pain you are in, with no relief in sight. Would you like to write a bit more about your condition, the beginnings of your story and how you got to where you are now? We've all travelled our own roads and maybe there is someone on the forum who can give you some ideas for dealing with your current situation, as well as with a medical system that seems to be letting you down. Hugs.
