Yes, i went to the cardiologist, due to the symptoms, and after the stress and panic attack test, ( i have had a heart murnmur, abnormalty from birthm,, found that out then,), etc, told me i did better than a man my age, ,said the bp pills were causing the lkow bp and symptoms, and told me not to take anym, when i saw my Dr., and we talked about the bp pills, he said if a cardio, took me off and then he had good reason to, and he agreed with his findings, and i was off for about 3-4 years, til i hit a bad emotional time in my life, ( i had been on lysinopril), and went from 10 to 5 mg, cause of the cough symptom, . i was placed on lozartan, cause it also gets rid of excess fluid around the heart, but it did not decrease th numbers like i would like to see, but the symptoms were terrible, i am to active at 70 and cant have that, and my Drs. tell me for my age, i am doing dpretty well, and dont look the age.according to Drs., and friends..
I was on Cozaar (Losartin) 100mg for two months and had my first panic attack ever while in a supermarket, driving was difficult and my shoulders would tense up so bad I literally had a death grip on the steering wheel.. the doctor changed my dosage to 50mg twice daily instead of blasting me full force.. so far so good.. so yes the side affects of these meds often don't show up for a while.. I hope you get to feeling better David and please stay after your doctor to help find something that works for you.. and don't be surprised that doctors know very little about how meds work, your pharmacist is your best friend.. please use their services they are by far a better choice to inform you about medications
I take this rediculous pill Cozaar as well Yevgeny... Doctors know very little about medications and your pharmacist knows much more than the doctors do.. please use their advice they are happy to give it to you freely without the uppity attitude to doctors usually provide... I hope you feel better, good health my friend
Hi David, I normally never reach out to any site or have reason to complain about any medication, but I took ONE (just one) pill of lowest possible dose 4 days ago. I'm STILL DIZZY. On day 2 Doc recommendation was take half a pill every other day. WTF? I can't hardly drive either. What to do? I would ask for some intelligent advice, but so dizzy!
the side effects of these medications is rediculous and most doctors don't know what to do other than inscrease the dosage.. I truly believe these medical people are tring to kill us... I have lost all faith in the medical profession...
Hi, I read your post and I do the same thing when I drive. It seems that when someone pass's me or someting I get dizzy. I have gotten so bad that I hate to drive and I also get anxiety in the afternoon. I am on Losartan 75 and take it at night. I talked to my Dr. and she just said it was not a side effect so had me have a MRi. I haven't gotten my results and it has been about a month. I guess I am all right, but never heard from the DR. and not sure what to do.
My blood pressure was 104 over 68 this morning, that seems low to me any suggestions.
These doctors will not admit these drugs have side effects and try to paas this off to us as if we don't know our own bodies.... she is dead wrong....
If there was a problem with the MRI they would have seen it immediately and said something Nana.... it appears this doctor is sending you for needless testing for something as simple as a side effect... Losartan indeed DOES make people dizzy and weak... I'm sorry you are dealing with this and yes your bp does seem a bit low...
so far since i left the lozaRTAN 50, I HAVE NOT HAD AN EPISODE OF DIZZINESS LIKE I USED TO, I THINK IT MAY TRY TO COME ON IF I DONT EAT ON SCHEDULE, BUT CHECKING MY BLDOOD PRESSURE , IT IS NORMAL AND MY DOCTOR SEEMS OKAY WITH MY DECISION,.SO FAR SO GOOD,
Hi
I have been on Losartan 25mg for approx 4 months and I have felt awful .
Woolly headed, headache and generally unwell. I gave it about 6 weeks to see if it would get better once they got into my system.
It did not so I went back to GP. She said that since they were working, all blood pressure meds have side affects - I should persist.
I have until approx 2 weeks ago I got up one morning, my bp was raised (139/84) and I felt worst than usual. Very wobbly and slightly nauseous with a pressure sensation in my head and left side of my neck.
I went to gp, different one. She said blood pressure was elevated and added in Indapamide 1.5mg. I took it and it definitely lowered by bp (range 100/70 - 124/81). However, the headache has never gone and the pressure in my head became so great, I had to stop taking it after a week.
I am not sure if the real problem is still the Losartan and perhaps I should insist we try something else. Any ideas?
Ann you are so right , those medications can be hell to take ,I have tried about 7 to date and got terrible side effects from them all ,I was then put on Losartan which made me dizzy and ill ,I am now on candesartan ,, yes the same family ,, it is no better and i now have lots of muscle pain dizziness and a dry mouth ! I probably do need medication now .. am fed up but worried as the drs have no answer ! they just think you can take one eventually ! Most i know can so i am at a loss !
Hi Gwen, Thank you for your reply. I told my doctor about the dizziness and fatigue; although, I was already on the lowest possible dose per day, she told me to take half pill of Losartran every other day. Now, after a month or so, have been able to take half pill every day (rather than every other day). I realize taking a new med is always tricky, but it seems to be working (fingers still crossed)....but had to ease into it really, really slowly to avoid nasty side affects
Hi Ann ,thanks for reply , i might ask about doing it like this ! I am glad it is working for you ! I have not taken it today and feel awful but if i take it i feel worse ! I have fibromyalgis and they keep telling me it is that ,however before all this i was not getting much trouble from it ! It is all a nightmare and is wearing me down ! my brother was put on 2 tablets and has no problems at all ! take care Gwen
My mother is being treated for dysautonomia which affects her blood pressure. She takes losartan and is miserable with extreme dizziness and queasiness. Her treating doctor doesnt make the connection with the losartan but it seems to me to be the case. She feels terrible and i wish i could do something. Is there another med that you found that took the place of losartan?
Helllo , I do empathise with your mother MK , I am on candesartan and am getting the terrible dizziness and nausea , plus muscle pain ! I suffer from Fibromyalgia as well which makes it all worse ! you say she has dysautonomia , i have fibromyalgia and i think these illnesses cause chemical imbalances which then cause intolerance to some tablets ! I am trying to get one to suit me ,i have tried 7 so far ! I was on Ramipril which gave me a cough but no dizziness , had to come off because of the cough ,but look into this class of medicines as it may be she does not get the cough ! There is also Benicar wwhich is the same family as Losartan but someone on here said they could take it with no side effects ! I do hope she feels better soon , best wishes , do let me know if she finds one !
thank you for taking the time to reply.
I will pass on this info to my mom. as you know, it is so difficult to live and function while feeling extremely dizzy.
It has been a difficult process trying to treat this dysautonomia and it is also difficult to watch someone you love suffer.
I was wondering if anyone else is losing their hair? I am getting a bald spot at the top of my head and my hair can hardly cover it. I am also very depressed and plus feeling so bad that I can't do this anymore cry all the time. Has anyone else lose hair from Losartan. Iam seeing another Droctor for a second opinion about the Losartan and also my hair loss. Today I am seeing a eye doctor and having my eyes checked. I hate this medicine and hope that this new Dr. will listen to me.
I appreciate all of you and your feed back on Losartan.
Thank you so much!!!
I don't know what is causing your hair loss but invest in some good wigs or hair pieces while you figure this out
Hello Nana, I hope this finds you feeling better...I am 81 years old and thankfully do not take any medication, I'm fairly healthy. I have a wonderful physician who tells me I should not take "high blood pressure" meds because I have what he has described as "labile" high blood pressure, meaning my numbers are high "on occasion", where they may go over 140/66 or 133/70 or sometimes 135/90. I also do deep breathing exercises which help lower my BP. So sorry you arehaving a hard time now, perhaps you need an anti-depressant which may lower your blood pressure. Have you asked your doctor about that. sometimes they overlook the obvious. Can you bring someone along with you to perhaps be your advocate? Someone you give permission to to discuss alternatives with your current docttor? This has helped many of my friends when they take along a daughter or a son who is more familiar with medicines and treatment options for their parents. I hope you feel better and can get some relief soon. Losarten has many side effects and you should ask your pharmacist, they know more than doctors about pharmacology sometime.d
Good luck!
Hello Nana , i too had hair loss while on Losartan so i do think it is the cause ! I have had lots of terrible side effects from a lot of BP tablets and am fed up and crying too ! I am on an antidepressant which does not help ! I would get the tablet changed to something else , and hopefully you will the be ok ! I just hope you do not get the problems i have and are ongoing ! best wishes ,,
Know you posted a year ago. Ut thsnk you. Have multiple sclerosis and have been on Benicar for 5 years. Switched me to generic and seemed to cause problems so doctor suggested try Losartan. Experience from hell for past month with dizziness constantly, blurry vision, headache and dry cough. Going back to generic Benicar and if bothersome need to get prior authorization for Benicar. Crazy hoops you jump through but thanks as thought was loosing mind or MS had really gotten worse..
