Hello, i am an 18 year-old male, i have been struggling and sick for 5 months and a half now. it started suddenly in May where i woke up feeling nauseous and thought that was something fast as usual because i have a sensitive stomach and used to have these feelings but mostly for a day or so, not months! about a week after i started to lose my appetite and feeling that i dont want to eat at all. I also lost some kilograms due to not eating at all and not even having the guts to smell or look at food! I decided to see a doctor and he asked for H pylori which i had twice back in 2017 and 2018 which came back negative. I visited 2 doctors and 3 specialists and no one helped me, some said it is anxiety related and some said it is due to stress and some said it is probably GERD. I have done 3-4 blood tests since then which came back normal, an ultrasound and CRP test and lover functions and other tests that the doctor asked for, all back normal. I started to eat again now because of the fear of losing more weight (im kinda skinny) and since eating i felt better for most symptoms except for nausea and loss of appetite. I dont drink, i used to smoke but that was last year. Last week with friends i decided to smoke some cigarettes and have been smoking for about a week now and my stomach is feeling even worse now! could this be brain-related or it is a stomach problem?? could it be liver, gallbladder, colon problem? could it be something worse? I dont know if anyone has experienced such case but im really tired of being sick! What do you think this might be??? Thank you!
You will need to go back to your doctor for more tests to get accurate answers to your questions, It does sound gut related but there are many gut disorders so it could be any number of things.
Does it have to be something dangerous since it has been 5 months??
And im also sick of going to doctors, no one helps at all thats why i asked here.
Unfortunately, we are not doctors on this site, so you will need to keep going back to your doctor for help even if you are fed up with it. Only a qualified medical professional can give you accurate answers. We can only advise here and cannot diagnose. I had three and a half months of abdominal pain with no help. All I could do was to keep seeing different doctors and asking for more tests. Eventually, I found a doctor who could help me and he diagnosed IBS. For a while it seemed no one was helping and I despaired.I told my doctor about my despair and anxiety and that got me diagnosed. I had to keep clinging onto the last shred of hope even though I was emotionally drained and tired of going back and forth to doctors and coming out empty handed.
The gut brain axis is very strong and when you are anxious, this can disturb your gut which has many more nerves in it than the spinal cord.
You have to keep persevering and keep hoping even in the face of despair. It doesn’t necessarily mean you have something dangerous because you have had symptoms for five months. It could be any number of things. However, only your doctor can judge whether you have something serious or not. This can only be determined by seeing specialists and getting more testing. If you are not satisfied with one doctor, see another. Get as many opinions as you can. This may not be the advice you want to hear right now, but it is your very best option for getting a diagnosis and treatment.
