My severe disabled payment and enhanced payments have stopped sinceclaiming pension credits ? I am £55.00 per week worse off . How can this be right
I,m guessing that some or all of your benifits cannot be claimed at the samr time as pension. Is that the case?
Hello, and thank you for replying. To be honest , I really don't know . I had a letter telling me my ESA was stopping form this weekend. But , ' nothing' else was mentioned. Only the fact that as I was now able to claim Pension Credit , mt other Benefits have stopped
I cannot understand how you stop being disabled because you are a pensioner ? How , you can it be right to lose your benefit enhancements because you become a pensioner ?
I am not an expert but I really do not understand this either.
I still get my DLA and Pension Credit.
The only thing I can suggest is that you contact yur local Citizens Advice Bureau. They really helped me get my DLA.
Hi me again, ESA is to replace (LOL) wages and stops when you claim your pension. DLA is a payment that if you qualify for before you are retired, carries on when you are retired, but cannot be claimed after pension age. the bennifit to repace thhat when retired would be attendance allowance. hope this helps.
Thank you Sarah , I phoned them ( Pension Credits ) today. They told me I had some more forms coming that would exxplain Pension Enhancements ?. So , its a waiting game. Mustadmit , I've hardly slept this weekend with worry . lol
Thank you Jordisonforbes. What a Minefield ...I can honestly say; theBenefit System is unfair and complicated
Oh I don't understand. I have had DLA for many years. I will be 65 in November this year and am already drawing pension. My understanding is that you cannot claim DLA for the first time if you are 65 or over.
However if you have got DLA before you are 65 (like me) that just continues.
Am I wrong here ?
Hi, you are right, if you get dla before you have your pension it DOES carry on. if you get full mobilty it carries on, if you get low rate mobilty you canot up it after pension, but your care componant can be upped if things change.
Then just to make things more dificult DLA is being replaced by PIP, do you kow about that?
Unfortunately , yes ! , I do. The distance about walking , has changed. In fact, so much has changed ,,I wonder how many people will now be eligable
Yes that is a big problem, if you can walk but it causes pain, or discumfort you must tell them. I get full PIP, I told them the truth, I can walk for a short distance but I am in pain the minuet I stand up.
Thanks yes I did relaise about PIP. It is complicated isn't it?
PIP came in on 8th April 2013, that is the date they are asking how old you were on that date.
I was 62 on that date (16 - 64) so I will be reassessed and invited to apply for PIP.
However they have not assessed me yet, I am still on DLA. I will be 65 on 10th November this year.So if they have not assessedme by then I will be 65. My understanding is that because I will be 65 I then cannot apply for PIP anyway as I have to be (16-64)
How can they still be assessing people l now?
Suppose they assess someone now and decide they are not eligible. They have still had their money for the past 2 years as DLA.
Let's not pretend any of this is going to make any sense.
I have recently decided to put my DLA money into a new adjustamatic bed paying over the next 5 years.
So if they take it off me I'll be camping out!!
