This isn't about me, it's about my dad, maybe just looking for any advice anyone could help with, my dad was diagnosed with CM last year had decompression everything seemed really well, he was good happy ect.. Until I bleed on the brain occurred and well everything went back down hill again.. Since then he has had 3 brain surgeries.. Seems every time they do surgery he gets worse.. His brain won't stay up, they don't understand why? They said there is nothing else they can do to help! All he does is sleep well seems like he does but his always tired. The sleep meds they gave him don't seem to work, he can't eat without chocking on it, no matter what it is his eating, he can't drink without chocking. We are in Australia.. This illness sucks!!!!
Oh cassie that's awful, I'm 20 months post op and not great, but I haven't heard of anyone going through this like your dad. I do hope you get some replies of help from this site. I'm in UK. I'm stumped they can't do any more, surely they can't just give up and leave ur dad to suffer like that.
After my operation I had trouble with my speech and eating I couldn't swallow, but they said it was due to nerves being damaged and it did come back after a week or so. I do hope someone can help hun, as you say this illness sucks! Not enough research is done on cm. X
Hi Cassie,
This sounds terrible for you all. You say your dad was diagnosed last year, when was his first and last surgery?
I ask because I ended up having 3 brain surgeries almost in succession. Everything seemed to go wrong and each surgery caused more problems. It does take a long time to recover when there are complications.
I've never had a brain bleed though, nor have I heard of your dads problems before. Somebody must be able to explain why this is happening surely with all the latest equipment like MRI's, CT scans etc? If I was in that position I'd be a real pest and keep pushing until I had some answers, the frustration must be driving you all mad. Sounds like your dad needs to still be in hospital if he can't eat or drink properly poor soul. I hope someone comes along on here soon that can help you Cassie x
