Low FODMAP diet?

Has anyone here tried the Low FODMAP diet for their IBS symptoms?  What were the results?  I'm looking at some of the things on the low FODMAP list that I know have caused symptoms for me before, so I'm skeptical overall.  I do feel that it may still be worth a try.  Please share your experiences!

Yes, I do follow the fodmap diet on some parts but i find it’s more of a guide really. Some foods on there I cannot eat like oats and tomatoes as I get really bad cramps. But I can eat foods not on the list but this is different for everyone. Generally you try fodmap for a while and then introduce foods and see if you get a reaction. You can then work out what’s causing issues and what’s ok then just avoid those foods that’s issues.

Yes, I’m doing low FODMAP at the moment as I have Coeliac disease and IBS it’s quite restrictive, but it’s helping quite a bit. I would definitely give it a try, after all, you only have to do it for 2 months then re-introduce foods one at a time, to see which ones are causing you problems. Good luck!

Yes, but off and on depending on my symptoms.  My doctor told me to eat white when I have my IBS in overdrive.  Potato, rice, white bread, chicken, eggs, etc.  Mild foods that are low in fiber.  I do find that FODMAP doesn't always work for me.  Clear chicken broth (no fat, made from organic chicken filets), beef soup made from sirloin roast cut up into tiny bit size pieces, toast, crackers, butter.......all work for me.  Even tomato sauce added to carrots and celery and potato in the beef soup. So, I think you have to just experiment with foods and if something doesn't seem to bother you, eat it.  A lot of trial and error.  Start with the FODMAP and spiral off of it.  Watch out for gassy foods.

I have a lactose intolerance so I do not drink milk or eat dairy other than butter, which is ok for me.
