Low mood

hi

i have low mood, doc gave me citalopram about 6wks ago but i wanted to try to beat it on my own,

have had back prolems for a while and found out i have spondalitis basically my spine is worn out L2-5 and that explains the achs but nothing can be done but pain management and maybe exercise.

i got so fed up waking up everyday stiff and painful thisdt brought me down, i found a lump in my breast too and have a syst on my foot which is painful when i'v been at work all day even thoughtmy job involves a lot of sitting at the computer. i'm off sick at the mo.

i started to do yoga and regulate the medication the temodol makes me a bit slow at thinking and responding. but felt thing were improving, then went for a check up for the breast lump, had the usual mamogram and a drain sample taken but the drain got infected and after a week of agony, the consultant desided to operate and remove the syst and infection.

now 3 weeks later i'm having a really bad day and have desided to take the tablets to help me with the ups and downs as i have a full time jo to get back to

I really am sorry you are low and in pain but wanted you to know that I have been on Citalopram for about 9 months and remember that it took a month or so for me to notice that slowly my moods changed. I have decided to stay on medication because it has helped reduce the strength of my anxiety attacks. I have fought depression, going it alone mostly, but I recognise now I need this help. I hope some light comes into your life soon.

I have taken the citropram now for over 6weeks and it has made a huge difference, i think i will if possible stay on it as long as i feel i need it. i did think i could do it alone, and for a while it was ok, then it ony took a minor thing to bring me right down again so thats why i started taking the tablets and except the help.

the back is still causing a lot of pain as i have found out that about 4 of my discs didn't form when i was born trans... something vertibrae so still take tremadol and ibruprof.. 4-6 hours and doing physio exercises. it has helped me be more flexible but not really helped with the pain, i am now starting to add more exercises to the physio ones with a medical ball, so we will see if this helps with the pain..

as i'm only 45 and started a phased return to work part time moving back up to full time hopefully the mornings are the worst and cold days.. any suggestions would be helpfull if anyone has a similar problem and they have found something that does help with the pain appreciated.

i'll let you know how the ball exercises go

thanks gabby

thank you pat, things are starting to lift with my mood thanks to the medication, just trying to fight the pain now.

its nice when people respond as you don't feel you are the only one...

again thanks for responding.

all the best gabby
