Lower Abdominal Pain for 3 weeks

Over the last three weeks I have had mild stomach discomfort lower left and lower right, it moves around. I had a colonoscopy a few months ago and everything came back normal. Doctor said I was good for 10 years (I'll probably go back in 5 just for fun) Everything was good until as I say about three weeks ago when there was a weird pain in my left side, it is hard to describe how it feels, it's not really a pain more of a discomfort. It doesn't get better when I have a bowel movement, and it doesn't get worse. Same when I eat no better no worse. My wife seems to think that everything is inflamed so since Monday I have had zero soda, no sugar, and I have eaten strictly Whole30 meals (which I will say sucks, because everything at the store has sugar in it.) Today is day 4 and I would say it feels a little better today, but there is still a pressure type discomfort I guess you would call it. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts were. I have been diagnosed with IBS around 25 years ago, My job is stressful, but I do get plenty of sleep there is no issue with any pain keeping me from sleeping or anything like that. As I say doesn't get better doesn't get worse. It does move around from lower left to lower right and back. Sometimes like today it is hurting under my belly button.

This is what happens with IBS especially when you are stressed. My first flare up lasted three and a half months and during that time it was neither better or worse. It only get better after diagnosis. IBS never goes away. It can stay dormant for awhile and then can come back. Try antispasmodics or painkillers, try a food diary and try to stay as calm as possible. Keeping calm really helps to control IBS. Try distraction techniques such as a hobby or light exercise.

Thank you Pippa, I fully believe that is just what it is an IBS flare up, and thank you for telling me that yours lasted 3 1/2 months that makes me feel better about the pain. I am hoping a cleaner eating approach helps, I have eaten pretty bland food all week and really upped my water intake, I have lost 3 pounds since Monday, so that has me a little bit concerned, but I contribute that to drinking water and having zero sugar for the week. Again thanks for the reply.

Your weight loss doesn’t seem a lot; it is only three pounds. Worry and diet change can cause you to lose weight. The more you worry about your weight, the more you are likely to lose.
