Lower Back Pain, Curvature of Spine, Osteoporous

I appear to have the medical conditions mentioned in the Title of this blog post....Members of my family have a medical history of these conditions. Two of my brothers have had back operations, one improved the other didn't. Same was true for other family members, ie. 50/50 chance of improvement.... I'm 72 yrs old and don't look forward to operations........I wear a back brace that helps some...Also, it's hard for me to walk or stand for a long time without causing a lot of pain...

Any suggestions from those who have the same or similar problems? Please respond...

Hi Randy,

You posted this in the Prostate Problems forum. You might have better luck posting it in the Spinal Problems forum. Good luck!

Thanks for bringing that fact to my attention...I will try to locate & post on the correct blog section..

See a good gerentologist, and get on one of the good bone building medications normally taken by older (post menopausal) women like Fosomax or Prolea. They can actually build bone back. You may have to argue to get it since there is little research done on men for this problem, and as far as I know there are very few standards, if any, and therefore your insurance may also give you grief, but it beats the hell out of having your bones fall apart.
