I have had lpr for 3 years it got so bad and misdiagnosed till January this year a ent doctor finally caught it after telling me it had ruined my tonsils which have to be removed but I get severe infections which need antibiotic treatment I used to be able to suffer antibiotic but this time I haven't had much luck 3 different ones caused reactions amoxcillian landed me in hospital severe chest pain and muscle weakness as well as laboured breathing so I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience it's like I can't tolerate them no more I take levothyroxine 175 lansoprazle 20 folic acid and b12 injections
Last reaction was tingly lips and fainting as well as nausea I told the doctor I won't take them no more but he said I could develop septis I'm at my wits end any feed back grateful
I have no problems taking antibiotics with reflux meds. Sounds like your reflux meds are not working, maybe you should return to the GP and ask to increase the dosage or ask to see a specialist. I take 30mg lansoprazole, for a while we tried 15mg but the symptoms returned, on 30 I am symptom free
I believe that the "misdianosis" comes from the frustration on the part of both gastroenterologists, physicians and confusion on the part of patients. We, as patients must become more proactive and agressive when it comes to our health. Like you, I had suffered with medical problems for years before I became critically ill in 2012. The acid reflux, GERD, infected gallbladder were all found out over the last 10 months even though I had complained about my throat, acidic taste in my mouth, chest pains, etc. for years even before 2012. The doctor would listen attentively and do absolutely nothing. I truly believe that doctors and most health care professionals have their personal "agenda" of what questions to ask to show that they are providing appropriate care. However, when the patient throws them a curve ball with an unexpected question, it throws them off. But I at least know what I have. I've changed my diet drastically and my discomfort has reduced over the past few months. But there are still times when I can eat a simple breakfast - dry toast and an egg white plain omelet and I'll have a slight burning sensation for a couple of hours. Do I want surgery? No! But I continue to voice my concers everytime I see my primary doctor. You have to remind them. You can not allow them to forget your symptoms. You can not allow your care to fall through the cracks! My medication is Dexilant and it does help IF taken before eating. But all this "pill popping" get tiresome. I realize that no ones body is perfect, but at least our doctors should be able to keep it in good working condition...with our help.
Sounds like my story. I've had LPR for 18 years. I've had a tooth infection about 6 months ago, and just like you, misgiagnosed and went on Aspirin and then Amoxiclav for a week, it's same as Amoxicillin (amoxicillin/clavulanic acid), also just like you landed in the hospital for gastritis. I also believe it triggered some kind of food allergy, whenever I eat anything that has cooking oil I get a skin rash and buzzing in the ears, but doctors said it's from the gastritis, I refuse to believe that, I believe Amoxiclav triggered the allergy and Aspirin triggered the gastritis. I've had my tonsils removed about 10 years ago, I was 24 which means it hurt a lot, tonsils are usually removed when you're сhild.
In my case, the antibiotecs, infection and gastritis don't relate to my LPR, but rather to the tooth infection and consequent course of antibiotecs.
It sounds as though you have been through a lot already 18 years is a scary amount of time
I think there is a connection I think the medications are harmful to our stomachs and that sets of a chain reaction I was so sick it felt like a truck had hit me antibiotics aren't supposed to make you feel that way so something went wrong I just feel like this one thing is taking over my life at the min I heard that having the tonsils out as a adult is very bad not looking forward to it at all lol thanks for the reply
Hi everyone, can I just say, I have also been suffering a multitude of symptoms for 14 months now and the doctors still haven't diagnosed me. I have actually given up on them. So I have researched as much as possible to try to figure out what could be the too cause of all of this. My symptoms are, difficulty/inability to take a deep breath, low lung capacity and lpr. I have a ridiculous amount of belching after food, bloating and many other symptoms which have come and gone - hopefully due to trying to heal myself. I believe the root cause is a candida overgrowth which has led to low stomach acid which has caused me heartburn and this shortness of breath. This is because the stomach fills with gas while the food sits there and either feeds the candida or ferments as there is not enough acid to trigger the stomach to empty it's contents. This is my opinion anyway and now I am trying to correct it all by changing my diet, killing the overgrowth of yeast and rebalancing the gut with probiotics. This may sound far fetched but it has really started to turn things around for me. Might be worth looking into this if you are open minded. Good luck all!
Oh and I missed out the important thing which is that I believe that the candida overgrowth was caused by the overuse of antibiotics. This is because the antibiotics kill the bad and good bacteria in your body and the yeast then takes over as there is not enough good bacteria to keep the yeast in check.
Hi I actually have looked into this I had h pylori an believe that's when mine started I have brought the books and researched it I'm going to trial it after my tonsils improve b great to hear how u get on also docs won't listen if you mention candida one actually snorted I'm in the uk
Yes I believe I have a sliding hernia which I have learnt to fix but the gas that accumulates in my stomach pushes it back up again. The reason I believe that it can be fixed is that I was getting to a point where I suffered no lpr and was able to take a deep breath etc quite comfortably around December just by taking certain supplements and watching my diet. But I was stupid and ate too many sweet things which fed the yeast again so it came back. I will try it again and see what happens - this time maintaining my diet for longer.
Yes I mentioned it to my new doctor and he actually said that although he didn't know much about it he said that doctors are starting to talk a lot about it in meetings. So let's see what happens in the next few years. Good luck samantha!! I'll keep you posted on how I get on
That would be great if you could and if you could let me know what supplements worked for you I know the general diet regime after extensive research and I'm willing to do that for as long as it takes I hope you find relief soon and that it works good luck anastasia keep me posted x
Yes of course. The supplements were oregano, garlic and berberine complex. Rotated every 4 days for 8 weeks. Also good quality probiotics that contain multiple strains of at least 10 billion cfus. I also drank detox tea and ginger root tea with 1 tsp - 1 tbsp of coconut oil melted inside it daily. The other thing that seemed to work for me - although might seem strange is a castor oil pack. Helps the liver (so does the detox tea). I hope that helps
