Hi I am a young 60 with no underlying health problems. About 2 weeks ago I started to experience discomfort in my upper abdomen along with bloating, burping and some acid reflux. My appetite is fine but the discomfort is like a knot without any pain. I went to the GO and she said I woud be tested for HPylori and gave me to PPI's ( omeprazole ) to take. However in the meantime I have read that the three possible causes are all different and have different treatments. It leans more towards LPR as I dont feel a lot of acid but the back of my throat sometimes feels a bit hot, I also clear my throat sometimes at night. However LPT doesnt seem to tie in with the stomach discomfort. How can I know which one I have so I can make sure I have the correct diet, treatment etc.. cheers
Hi Paul i’m 50, and I also have been experiencing this off and on for 7 years, I have had CT scan, Ultra sounds, etc and really got no definitive answers, after eating it feels like a knot in my stomach pushes up just under my sternum and makes it hard to breathe, also stomach bloating, burping, I was told I have Gerd but I never experienced severe heartburn, just some minor burning in the back of my throat, my Dr. put me on Prilosec and for the last 2 years I have been taking it and it actually does seem to help my symptoms, but I still try to watch what I eat, try and limit greasy foods and dairy, I don’t cut them out completely and sometimes I can’t resist a greasy pepperoni pizza and suffer the aftermath but it does help , also try and limit your portion size, break a meal up in to 2 meals and wait an hour to eat the other half
Thanks for that
I went on omeparzole on monday and it seemed to relive the symptoms for 2 days but it has also made me feel quite nauseous so I just dont think it agrees with me. I think you are right about diet. I am going to go off the tablets and change to a bland diet for a week or 2 to see if makes a difference..
