LS Confusion

Hi guys. i’ve left two other posts in this forum. I have been suffering from what i believe is LS symptoms. My gyno swabbed the tears and i got a blood test for herpes just to calm my fears (all negative obviously). I just went back to her and she said its a dryness issue. She recommended getting off the pill and using vaginal moisturizers. I brought up if it could be Ls but she said she didn’t see any signs of it. However my labia has become super wrinkled and pale pink. It’s dry, not stretchy, tears, itchy, burns, and extends to the back end. Do you think maybe it’s early onset? what should my next step be? biopsy? i don’t have white patches but i don’t think all women have that. thank you

I’ve never had white patches (that I know of) either.  I know what I have (LS) but opted out of biopsy. Seems like you need one though.  So sorry you’re experiencing this!

I’m still using clobetasol (steroid ointment) but I’ve incorporated borax soaks 3x/week minimum and baking soda water rinses after each time I use the toilet. Lots of moisturizer! I’ve found emu oil and Emuaid to be most helpful.

Diet is huge, all cotton white underwear, no underwear helps some, no tight pants... soaks in baking soda & borax and moisturize a lot! Best to you! I hope you don’t have it but if you do we are all here to help and support you.

Yes it could be ! That’s exactly what mine was like to start with . White patches came later . Get a referral to a skin specialist. ASAP . Good luck 🍀

If I were you I'd get a second opinion from a different doctor.  LS is not something you want to hold off treating.

I wouldn't rely on the opinion of one doctor and agree with others to find a specialist.

Nicole- I believe you need to have a biopsy. If your Dr refuses, see another one. I did not gave any white patches ir any white figure eight typical of LS. I had sores and pain and a throbbing clit and when I peed it hurt so bad! I too was checked for herpes due to the blisters, but all negative. Went back in worse shape a month later and  she biopsied 6 spots; labia minor, labia majora, vaginal introitus, perineum, two others?? All positive for LS! So you can’t always see it, especially in the esrly stages or in a major flare where everything is a mess.

Thank you! i’m going to try all those things and try to get a biopsy!

Thank you, this has calmed my fears in at least knowing it could have a name. Not just some mystery condition

I agree. I am going to find a specialist.

Thank you!! I really believe that this could be LS. i already have a thyroid immune disease and have terrible eczema since i was a kid. never had issues with my lady parts so this kind of shocked/scared me. i will look for a second opinion and hopefully get a biopsy.

Definitely go for biopsy. I've had LS for a few years, finally had a biopsy in June. Squamous cell carcinoma could not be excluded. Going back to the GYN Oncologist on Oct. 10th for another biopsy. Am using betamethasone for now to get inflammation down before next visit. This is not something you want to go untreated as mine was. Good luck.

My specialist said that women with LS usually have thyroid problem.  So that’s a connection for you.

i’ve been reading all about how there is a connection!

Thank you Ruth. I will update!
